Back to autozone.? I need bigger taps :E:

Why, the 3/8" NPT tap should work.... ??? You match the tap to the pipe fitting, not the drill bit....

oh.... hmmmm that pipe fitting looks alot bigger than the 3/8 tap ( pic above).

one more thing......how do i relaese the fuel pressure prior to replace the injectors? It doesnt say in the book.

Schrader valve on the fuel rail should be one way.

There is a valve on the fuel rail looks like a tire air valve, if you have a fuel pressure gauge.

Or get some rags and catch the fuel should not be much in the line, just push in the valve.

Is it possible these numbnuts sent me the wrong brass fitting? It does NOT fit a 3/8 hole.

OK, TAP sizing 101... a coarse thread 3/8" bolt does not use the same size tap or drill as a 3/8" NPT pipe nipple...

a 3/8" bolt with # 16 threads requires a 3/8-16 tap and a 5/16 drill bit

whereas, what you are dealing with is a 3/8" NPT pipe fitting which requires a 3/8-18 tap and a 9/16 drill bit...some charts will call a 19/32 drill bit which is a slightly larger drill hole for ease of tapping...

they claim to have sent you a 9/16" rotobroach which is correct for the 3/8" NPT thread... The picture you posted does not show the tap size which is stamped on every tap made in this country... Look at the tap and see what it is stamped as....

I cannot tell with any certainty what the scale is of the brass fittings... it should be a 3/8-18... you can verify this by going to Home Depot or Lowes to the plumbing section to verify it is...

You have to match the tap to the fitting, and then the drill bit to tap size....

Hope this helps....

and Doug is correct... schrader valve on passenger side fuel rail will bleed pressure.....

Sorry, wasn't online but it looks looks you've been getting good advice.

BTW a 3/8 pipe thread is for a pipe with a 3/8" inside diameter.  It would be similar in size to a 5/8 bolt thread.

Ok. I got lots of things done today.

Installed:
-fuel injectors
-Coolant hoses
-inlet & outlet hoses
-attached blower

3 things are left to do:

-install oil lines. (Thanx Rick. Today i learned the difference between Coarse thread tap & pipe tap).  Went o HomeDepot,Lowes,AutoZone & Sears and they dont carry a pipe tapper anymore. I need to check the local plumbing supply store on Monday.I was told they could be 'bout $100?  Crazy! :p

-Valve Bypass
-Tune

oh yeah....the darn engine cover doesnt fit anymore.

Looking great dude!!! I really like how they replace the upper Radiator hose with the polished pipe... (y)

Thank you thank you guys!

Say...Rick!  Do you mind posting pics of your bypass valve installation? The instruction book has me confused with the 2002 pics shown on page 13.

Theres 8 steps A thru H.  Am i supposed to do only E thru H (2004)?  ...or all of them?  :p

OK, yours will be the same setup as mine, with the exception the outlet pipe was changed out with the aftercooler discharge pipe... blowoff is in the same place though.....

What the pic does not show is where I tapped the vacuum line from the intake and run it over to the blowoff and then to the Snow progressive controller for the meth kit boost reference....

If you need help with that let me know and I will shoot some pics of that routing....

Cool. i got this picture right. ? ?Hmm...did you do anything with the pcv? I dont see it.

Also....any pics on the passenger side breather? ?There is a step where i neeed to cut or file and place the 5/32 hose?

another thing you might want to do for preventative measures is to actually add sheet metal screws to the coupling at the inlet to the blower. I added some under the hose clamps due my coupling popping off a couple times..... That was when I thought I was having fueling issues and it wound up being the coupling letting in unmetered air....

BRB... not sure I can show this without taking off the aftercooler, but I will check.....
