Hello guys and gals I will be heading down to my house in Florida in October and was wondering if anyone in the Tampa Bay area specifically Sarasota/ Venice area is having a gtg while I will be down (october 19- November 5)??? If you are or are planing one please let me know I will bringing down my 03 Z71. Thanks

Yeah, we do ;)

There is some effort at starting a Tampa area chapter (search threads for it) but not a whole lot of folks. I myself can't spare much time to be active in anything either, so I'm not much help. Depending on how things are at the time, I might be able to sneak time away for lunch or a couple drinks. That's quite a ways off for now ;) I'm lukcy if I can plan things > 3 days in advance.

Come down a week early and meet some AVers that party & practice other AV activities as often as possible. Practice your party activities as much as you can before October 10th. ;D

sorry can't make it a week earlier. Those are the two weeks Im assigned for to take off. Hope to run into some of my fellow Avers while Im heading down the I95 corridor or while in Fl if not then let me say to you all have fun and keep up the good posts!!!

One travel tip, if you aren't aware. Don't do the I95-I-10-I75 (or I-4 instead of I-10) as those aren't the most direct route, and I-4 is miserable ;)

There are a couple of back ways to do it, but the easiest for unfamiliar drivers is 295 around Jax to I-10 for a couple miles, then hit US301 south. The only warning here is to watch your speed carefully in all the small towns. Waldo, Starke et al are the worst speed traps in the country, rated as such by AAA even.

Take 301 down into Ocala, then you can take US27 or several other routes up to SR200 (last choice) West to I-75.
 
Thanks Doug for the travel info even AAA didn't give me those directions. As for the speed traps with me pulling a trail w/ an expensive car for a client I don't think I would have to worry. ;D

Trust me, you DO have to worry. They drop the speed from 55 to 30 in a heartbeat, with the sign hidden by trees. Then the cops sit hidden right past it ;) You coming through with out of state tags, perfect target!
 
Damn **OUCH** Maybe Ill stick with the 1-95 cross over to 75 route instead of those towns can't afford the high score on my drivers liscense or insurance either.

No, use the 301 route. It's quicker and nicer scenery as well, especially down to Ocala. Just don't hot-dog it ;)

I'm up in Bradenton, we might be able to work something out at some point.

20 days away folks I will be heading down on Oct. 17th and staying to Nov. 8. Lets get together and have some AVing fun.
 
If you make it over to the east coast, give us a holler. I know there's quite a few Avs around this area that wouldn't mind meeting. We need a good kick in the butt to get a gtg happening. (y)
 
probably heading to the east coast while I am down there bringing a friend who has never been to florida so I am going to give him a grand tour>> Daytona on the way in, Tampa of course on Gwavaween, Miami because...well its Miami, Key West so I might make a trip to West Palm on the Miami run. Let me know.

hello all again... 15 days now ;D can't wait ;D

well here is and idea for you all. On sunday the 19 of october I will be having dinner at Sharky's in Venice around 6:30/ 7 oclock. Look for the blue av in the lot. I will sitting outside at the Tiki Bar. Also Wed oct. 22 I will be on the Sunshine Skyway South Fishing Pier after 8pm, once again look for the blue Av.

other than these two dates and times everything is being winged. No sold plans for anything. After the 17 I will not have computer access for 2 weeks so and PMs or Emails will have to be before then. Hope to run into a few of you while I am down. If not, I will talk with all of you here.

What's on the agenda for the 22nd before the fishing? You have to drive right past me to get there from Venice, that might make a good chance to get together before the fish start frustrating you ;)

You HAVE to stop in Columbia South Carolina on your way down and say HOWDY!! Its a must, and I won't accept NO for an answer! I can make it convinient for you. Whay is your route? Are you comming through SC on I-77 or on I-95. I-77 comes right through Columbia. I-95 would be about an hour or more drive for me to meet you. Got_Change met up with me on a trip through.....it was fun. Lunch....??? Drink break....??? Mod break...??? You make the excuse and the time! ;) Lets meet up.

Any other SC AV'rs want to join me on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
