What are your guys' comment on these items are they good ones bad ones.
any info would be apperciated

I have the 8.1 and added the UPD FIPK it came with the KN air filter. You can order on the sight from UPD (as I did) it was a very good price. I have Flowmaster 40 series. This works good with the 8.1. Suggest you go to a muffler shop and see if they wil let you try the Borla for a couple of days. I have heard that some shops will work with you unitil you get the performance/sound you want.

welcome to the board, lots of info here - it helps if you put what your driving in the sig.

K&N FIPK is good, look aslo at the Volant and the UPD

JetChip is a static solution, you may want to invest in the HPP3 for the first cut - if you have a 8.1L with FIPK and non-stock exhaust, i have a Jet Performance chip you can try, and pay if you like it.

Borla system is nice, a tad pricey - make sure you can live with the noise of any non-stock system.

i got the 5.3 it says on this one sight i went to that borla exhaust gives it better mpg at cruzin speeds 10-12% hp increse without the loud sounds of other perfomance ehaust systems so thats why i kept that system in mind cause i dont want 2 big culverts stickin out the back of my truck and sound like a tractor without headers and a muffler i want a nice sound maybe tad bit beefier that stock but stock sound is good too

I have the Borla Jakson..., I think it maybe just the sound Your looking for.., not cheap.., but a Very nice system..., and very easy to install.... I have the Volant Intake also.., very nice.., and quite at cruise......, Hypertec unit is also a good way to go.... I think whatever route You gfo.., You'll be Happy with the results......

I've got a 5.3, FIPK, and a Flowmaster 70 series 'Thrust II' system. Gas milage increased from 13.8 to 16.8 with those 2 mods. I also use synthetic oil (I'm not telling the brand, I'm not gonna start THAT discussion again!). The Flowmaster exhaust is pretty interesting, it has what the mechanic called a large 'de-resonator' that goes in front of the muffler. It's perfect for me, no in-cab resonating until around 2200 to 2400 RPM which is way fast on an Interstate so no problem. It's also throaty when you get on it and a head-turner when you mash it to the floor. I'll add the pics of the before and after on Picture Trail when I got the time to transfer them out of the camera.

I added the FIPK to my 5.3 and a few days later the Borla exhaust and am very please with both mods. ?I haven't measured the performance or mileage, but both are very noticeable improvements. ?As with MPG, the noise factor depends alot on what I'm doing at the pedal. ?So far everyone has provided very positive feedback in regard to the sound. ?

I'm here at this forum today looking for Perf Chip feedback. ?thanks all, great site... ?-pete

I had the High Performance Ravin Muffler from Midas put on my 2001 Dodge and loved the sound. ?Deeper with less high tones than a Flowmaster. ?I am seriously thinking of getting one for my AV.

tx Jaks, I learned alot over the couple of hours I spent here earlier.

:0: I think the best tip had to be the Tow Haul Mode button, I had never punched it in THM before, coooool! (y)

Performance is now closer to what you might expect to see coming down the road when you hear the Borla's wide open as they can be very loud.

thanks again all... -pete

I have the K&N FiPK.....felt an instant improvement with just this mod...but I did not just stop there....I wanted the angry exhaust sound so I went with the Flowmaster 40 original...definitely loud at take off and throughout.....suttle at cruising......next mod will be the headers....I think the TOG's are great, but seem a little to pricey for me...may go with the Gibsons.....TBD... :B:

Are most of the headers street legal? I would consider getting but I don't need any issues with PA inspections.

Also, has anyone heard any feedback on the high-flow catalytic converters? Do they make much of a difference?

You won't have any issues with the headers...as far as the high-flow cats are concerned be careful....I ran a high-flow racing cat on my old Talon...and had a hard time trying to meet emissions here in NJ.....that was in combination with intake, headers, and cat-back exhaust..... :B:

Cool, thanks NJAV, I'll consider the headers as a near future mod and forget the high-flow cat for now...

Not a problem....I just don't want a fellow Aver being subjected to the emissions monsters when they rear their ugly heads...... :B:

Good idea - you really won't gain that much with the high flow cats unless you are trailering it to the track - then why bother with cats at all.

thanks again guys, and nice 1/4 times there for one heavy truck gandolphxx.

And, at the risk of sounding stupid, what does the 4L... stand for in your and NAVJ's sig? ???

I have the dual exhaust Borla, Power Aide trottle spacer and the Airaid. The only thing that bothers me is
that the Airaid still uses that "thing" for the air intake.
The exhaus tnote is great and truck now has some pep. The Hypertech chip is next with the 20 or 22 wheels and painting the cladding. I just did the molded carbon fiber pieces for the interior and it looks sharp. The only costly part was the steering wheel. Darn, I'm getting sidetracked again!!!. Do the perfromance mods, I'm looking to do headers as well, they look real easy since the engine bay is so large.
