I have an '03 Avalanche that I've owned since new.  I added two 8" subs and a Profile amp about 2 years ago using the PAC connector and kept the stock 6 disk changer.  This past week I've been losing all sound from the front and rear speakers.  The 8" subs however continue to work.  The problem is intermittent.  Is happens once in awhile and there doesn't seem to be any pattern.  The stereo will work fine, you shut the truck off to get gas or go in to a store, than when you come back out and start the truck, nothin but the subs.  Occasionally the speakers will all come back on when you are driving, but most times they will only come back on after the truck is shut off and restarted a few times.  Like I said there are no real patterns.  I checked all the connections behind the radio and everything is secure.  I've had no problems in the last two years with the stereo and there are no other electrical mods to the truck.  I just can't figure this one out...  And of course my warranty is now over.
Any help would be appreciated as this is really annoying.  I think the problem has to do with the factory amp not turning on or outputting to the factory speakers, but I don't know how to check that the amp is functioning properly.

My 03 does that to. But its only happened maybe 3 times in almost 5 years. As soon as I start it back up after getting back in the truck, it works fine. But mine never came back on when driving. Only after shutting it off for a while.

Has your av done it for awhile?  This only began happening a short time ago and it seems to happen every other day, practically everyday last week.  I can't figure it out.

I would say the first time was about 3 years ago and the last time was maybe 6 months ago. Never as much as your problem. I hope somebody can figure it out.
