Brake Failure!!!

 At approximately 10:51 am yesterday, I posted an email to the GM customer service about this broken brake line. At about 4:30 pm I received a phone call from a Customer Relationship Manager. This is the first time I have ever been able to talk with anyone over the years in regards to any problem I have ever had with any of the new GM products we have ever bought. It seems that perhaps they finally are starting to care.

By 10 am Monday, I am in hopes that this will be taken care of and that I will not have to worry that it will ever happen again.

I now have this very same problem. Emergency brake is inop and there is a scraping noise in the passenger side rear wheel. I am going to the dealer Monday morning. My Av is out of warranty. Since there is a TSB shouldn't Chevy cover the repair costs? I will be taking the TSB with me, but I want to be armed with as much knowledge as possible. I know how dealerships scheme. thanks in advance for any help.

I took it in today and both rear rotors were shot. Although my Av is out of warranty Chevy replaced them and fixed the emergency brake with no cost to me. I even had them switch the PCV, because it was using oil. That was also at no charge. I must say that I am very impressed, because I did not even have to argue. It was a pleasant dealership experience this time.

I have an 03 AV with 10983 miles on it, after reading this post I went out side and tried my e brakes. they went to the floor but they held like glue.
even with heavy accelerator pressure. should I take it to the dealer and tell them that they went to the floor and have them check them out ? the reason I am asking is because I read something about the dealer installing a cilp to fix the problem of the brakes going to the floor with out resistance. please reply.

There was a posting on the rear pk brake on 10/22/03 a sestch should find it was e-mailed to me by a member the number is Bulletin No. 02-05-26-002A
Scraping Noise From Rear Of Vehicle

Go to the NHTSA site and print out the TSB. I took that with me and they did not even hesitate to fix the problem, even though I am well out of the warranty. But my e brake was inop and there was a bad scraping sound in right rear. You can try it. Just tell them that you are hearing the noise.

that's a good idea , I am just about due for a tire rotation so I will take the TSB in with me and have them check the parking brakes out.
thanks for all the speedy replies . I just love browsing this site , it is so informative , I can learn in a matter of hours what it would take me days on end to find out on my own !! thank you all so much. ;)

;D If it were not for this web site, I do not feel I would have gotten my brake line brakage taken care of so well. I have been a GM person for years. My first car was a 1936 4 door chevrolet that was given to me for work I had performed, this was in 1952. Over the years as I got older I was able to eventually buy newer cars.
When my wife and I were first married we got a new Berlinet and had nothing but trouble and heartache.

DUE TO THE FORMING OF THIS SITE FOR THE AVALANCH, we have been able to help others who have purchased AV since July 2001, we have been able to find help and answers.

Thank you much and please keep putting out the findings on the AV
