Brake Light Switch Problem and now no power!!! HELP!!!

I am so happy that I'm not even a little bit embarrased! Okay - to recap....Here's what happened..... My brake lights went out several weeks ago. Naturally, I put new bulbs in first thing. That didn't work. We replaced all related fuses. That didn't work. We replaced the brake switch. That didn't work. We checked the wiring at the junction block on the rear right fender. That didn't work. We checked the flasher module. That didn't work. We were in the process of getting the voltage to the socket and the junction block tested. A mechanic that my ex-husband knows aked if we had checked the bulbs. My ex told him we had replaced them. He sent new bulbs with my ex -who was coming to check the voltage for me. Just for the heck of it -he tried the new bulbs. My brake lights work! I jumped for joy! He blamed it on cheap bulbs from Walmart. Meanwhile, my daughter and I have learned a lot about my Avalanche and what makes it tick. A bonus is that my ex discovered a Viper Alarm System under the dash that I didn't know was there. It's a 791XV. Maybe all I need is a new remote and I'll be able to use the remote start, etc.... Thanks for all your research and good advice.

This may be related, my driver side brake light went out recently, only the driver side. My first fix was to swap bulbs, I got LEDs because I figured that would be an upgrade.
Put them in but that brake light still doesn't turn on, however it does light up when the truck first starts up just not when I press the brake pedal. I thought this was weird but then also noticed my driver side headlight blinker/running light does not light up at all either.
Are these related and/or perhaps its the light switch? I wanted to check on here before I ordered any parts and had to send them back.
