yesterday, driving home my brake pedal started going near the floor, but the last 1" or so would allow the truck to stop still. Got home checked fluid level and topped it off. No visible residue on any wheels.
this morning check the fluid level to make sure i hadnt lost any due to gravity, and all was good. as soon as i started the truck the brake pedal felt the same as it did yesterday, and the Service Brake System message popped up on my way to work. just went out to look things over in the daylight, and there is fluid all over the ABS module (assuming thats the brake box near the frame rail under the drivers seat). i have not investigated farther to see if the fluid is from a failed line, or the module itself.
the question is, how likely is it that the ABS module went bad like that? i know brake lines rusting out on these is a super common issue, so i assume its that, but dont want to get my hopes up for a brake line job, but instead need a $300+ ABS modulator valve.
