I went through the posts regarding this tire and noticed it has been a while since anyone has discussed it. It seems as though everyone was initially pleased with this tire and wondered if there have been any problems or new thoughts on this tire. I am planning on purchasing a set tomorrow and wanted to make sure it was still reccommended.

Thanks for any input!

AV's AWAY!!

Thanks lanman1, I went and got them today. I too was hoping to go with at least the 285's, but they are only offered in the 265 as of yet. I did see some new Firestones that i think i will get for my Sierra Z71; called the Destination M/T, they look real nice and have good shoulder lugs. should be comparable with the Dueler M/T's, maybe a little more aggressive though.

I have a new 04.................first mod away with the brigestones..................i put the good year rt/s with wite letters, much better ans softer ride

I have an appointment to get some today. Luckily they gave me a pretty good credit on the stock tires so I am paying 530 out the door for them. Otherwise I would have paid 700. This seems a little high, but the 530 seemed like a good price. Is this about what you guys have paid for yours?

I haven't put my Duelers to the test, but for everyday driving, it's a lot quieter and smoother than my previous AT tires.

HI all. I have a 3/4 4x4 av and can't decide on what tire to get. I have researched tirerack.com and have talked around town. I do beleive you can give me the best advice. :) ... The Revos or the KOS from BF. I tow a 26foot trailer and go off-raod to. HELP....
thanks guys :) (y) :B:

I have had my Revo's for about a month now and although haven't done any real off-roading or snow travel yet, I have been very pleased with the ride, noise and wet traction. I immediately noticed the quieter ride. And I tried to get the tires to spin as in a strong acceleration(not "flooring" it) during a rain and they just stuck. I am looking forward to winter because I know I won't be displeased.

I have a chance to buy a set of BRIDGESTONE DUELERS at a good price. By reading through this and other threads I think that the Duelers come in several types. I see the Ravo, MT and maybe some others, is this right? What ones would I want for the street? I have a Z66 and do not off road. Are all of the Duelers ok or are some better than others?

I currently have the Firestone Steeltex's on my Av and I hate them. The wet weather performance is terrible. I especially want new tires since Firestone has recalled the Steeltex on various Ford trucks.

Now the task of decideing which ones. I am interested in the Bridgestones but......they are the parent company of Firestone. Can someone convince me to buy the Bridgestones? I am a little uneasy about the connection between Bridgestone and Firestone. ???

I started this post back in October when I was trying to decide which tire to buy. I had had enough of the "lack of traction" from the factory mountings and was very displeased with the amount of wear that the Goodyear?s were showing. I asked around here and checked some other references like "Tire Rack", and decided to buy the Dueler AT Revo's.

I have over 9,000 miles on them now, through one of the worst winters we have had in these parts in a while, and I am VERY happy with them. We got over 12 inches of snow last weekend and I went for an "afternoon drive" DURING the storm, as well as escorted my girlfriend the 30 miles to get her home.

I don't have any scientific numbers that I can throw at ya, but: they are quiet, they get good grip-tion, they show nil for wear after 9,000 miles, they do look good, I used 4x4 alot less this past winter than I expected to.

I don't know where you are at, but take a look at them somewhere. If you are around here I would be glad to show them off to ya.

As far as the Firestone/Bridgestone connection; that also was something that I had to consider, not only because of the past problems with the Firestone tires, but because MANY of my family members worked at the Firestone plant here before they were all laid off and replaced. Now, I don't know all the details of that matter, nor is this the place to discuss it. Let's just say I have some personal conflicts with it. Never-the-less, I needed good tires and I think I got some.

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's Best Tires I have had so far.

Michelins Suck! on the Avalanche!

I noticed a peculiar lean to my AV this morning as I was going to start my journey to work. Ahhh?flat tire :6:. 32K miles and I?ve had three flats in the past 2 months on three different tires. This looks like a material/workmanship problem though. There is a bubble on the outside sidewall tread that almost looks like a rupture. I noticed it a couple of weeks ago when I rotated the tires. Last night it must have burst and started leaking. I took it to Goodyear and they said they would need to send the tire to the factory to be analyzed and if I?m lucky they will pro-rate the tire and give me credit towards another Goodyear Wrangler ATS :E:. No thanks. I checked here and the TireRack and heard nothing but good things about the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo. So, I ordered them an hour ago and will have them installed tomorrow. It was 700 bucks I wasn?t counting on having to spend so soon, but I didn?t want to buy one new Wrangler ATS. I hope they live up to their reputation! (y)

I bit the bullet on Monday and purchased the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's. I hoped for rain so that I could compare my Goodyear Wrangler AT/S and today it rained. No comparison at all, the Revo's hugged the pavement like it was dry. The Goodyears would wander on even a light rain. My only concern though, the dealer put 40 psi in them and said that was best for this tire and this vehicle. Any thoughts on this. I'm no tire expert - so I'll have to take their word for it unless I learn otherwise. In the mean time though - Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's are the way to go.

Oh yeah .... anyone looking to buy my old Goodyear Wrangler AT/S P265/70R17's with 17,500 miles on them?

Truckman,

That is about the same thing happened to me with the original Goodyears; found a 3" piece of welding rod in the tread. It went in along the circumference so that only the very tip penetrated into the inside of the tire carcass and got a slow leak. The tread was so far gone, and with winter coming also, I just decided to get all new.

Run me about the same $700, but so far I have been VERY pleased, and I think they will wear alot better than the Goodyears- be worth the $$.

JJM,

Shouldn't you go by the PSI rating on the side of the tire for your load???

That's what I thought about the pressure. The tire say up to 44 psi. The driver's door says to inflate to 30 psi. The dealer said that 40 psi was really the best place to be. Most of the time I do not have a load - so I always thought you should go with what the door says for each vehicle. What do I know??

When I have my Duelers installed tomorrow, I'll ask the dealer about their suggested tire pressure and report back! :0:

So....................... Truckman, what the verdict on the tire pressure from your dealer???

JJM,

They claim 30 psi is the best pressure to run. The pressure listed on the tire itself is the max pressure the tire can handle, but you don't want to keep the tires normally inflated to 44 psi. I'm going to go with 30-32 psi. I had my alignment checked when I had the tires installed. They said it was little out of align. I haven't had a chance to take my AV out on the highway yet, but I've noticed a big difference just driving around town. It is almost time to replace the Firestone Bolognas on my wife '01 Tahoe. I may put a set of these Duelers on her truck as well.
