Brush Guards/Grill Guards

An option for Miller is to contact SEM products and get the correct bumper paint color for the 03 and paint the cladding on the grill guard before install.

I agree - an 02 color on the 03 wouldn't look very good

Miller, how did you come to own an '02 spec Grill Guard with an '03 Av? I share the views of the others, you are looking at a cladding color mis-match.

But since you seem determined to install it, I will look around tonight for my copy of the install directions that came with my GM Grill Guard - If I have them I will scan them and pass along (the directions are rather lame, ps, but do give some necessary guidance)

I ordered an '03 Av before the accessory p/n changes were out. Then while I was waiting for it's delivery, I ordered a brush guard and splash guards from a buddy who is a service manager for GMC (excellent price break). Not knowing the cladding color was changing I found out too late. I still haven't seen new p/n's for the splash guards.

I wanna a Gm brush guard now that I saw one driving on the Interstate the other day...

Jack how long did it take to install? ?and what did you use to cut the cladding?

I bought and installed the GM grille guard with a friend from the club. The URL on how-to install the guard is included on my web site. Just click the image in my siggy and follow the link for the brush guard install.

Sandman, I followed the link in your sig, but couldn't find any reference to the guard install. Am I missing it or is it not there anymore? ???

You may want to keep your eyes open for a bar from Genuine Steel. I saw a picture of it. It was a pre-runner style bar that the article said was just about ready for release.

It was good looking with 3 light tabs. Cool, 2 phat PIAA's and a 767 landing light!!!!!!

Where are you going to get that 767 landing lite?
Thanks
James R.

avpapa, the waag does not have any guard underneath, nor does WAAG sell a guard for under the AV. I don't know where one could be purchased, but you probably could ask one of the moderators.

They are cool photos Biggie... I think they all spoil the front of the av, it looks just great without them. Now you should include zeeya's in that list... 'cos it is a good looking guard.

;D
Did I hear someone call my Name?????????
I have to add to this list, but I think the big problem with the Bull Bar from Westin is you have to do a little modding before you can Mod. If Westin would come out with a Bull bar just for the AV I think it would be a little more acceptable. Who Knows with the new front end on the Silverado's......... Someone at Westin might wake up and smell the roses..................
Bull bar by westin......... roughly $300 plus the $100 for the skid plate. It does not protect the front end like the others though......, but is enough to move any ricers out of the way >:D

I just ordered the Westin Bull Bar and Skid Plate. Got them both for $385 shipped to CA. Anyone who has this, could you post any details on the install that would be helpfull. What exactly did you have to cut? I am going to install it at our next Club camping trip in three weeks. What tools do I need to bring with me? Details please. Thanks.

Also, I know you do not loose the tow hooks, but they look like they are blocked a little. Are they still usable to get pulled out of a bad situation?

I kinda agree with Skidd and didn't want to cover up the front of the Av. Problem is, those large plastic bumpers seem to be prone to scratches. So, I put on the WAAG Front Runner and Rear Runner guards that are low, but cover and protect the bumpers - they look great! ;D

Here is a pic of my grill and brush guard. I love the way it looks. Sorry the pics is not to straight.

With everyone here who has a grill gaurd and a Z71....has anyone thought about how to install a winch to these? I'm on the verge of ordering a WAAG grill gaurd but am holding off because I want to install a winch but want to see if anyone out here in Avalanche land has already done so.

Did you get your grill guard instructions? I didn't receive mine either and do not know if I am missing anything. Can someone email me the instruvctions?

Maybe someone will help you out, gcarty. However, the last post before yours was 5/21/03. I'm sure the first question will be, what kind of grill guard do you have that you need instructions for? I have a Hunter grill guard on mine, and could take pictures of the brackets installed if you have a Hunter grill guard. Otherwise, if we knew what kind of guard it was, maybe someone with that guard could help. Another option would be to contact the company to see if they could send out the instructions to you.

Hope this helps.  :)
