Tell me about the Lund bug deflector.....where it is available, cost, ease of installation, ease of getting under the hood with it on, ease of cleaning around or under it. Thanks.

I put on the GM Model, only because my last vehicle (expedition) was only 3 years old and despite being babied had countless chips on the front edge of the hood.

The reason I traded my expedition was I had an eternal shimmy in the front end and vibrating mirrors. The AV is smooth as a Caddy and the mirrors were rock steady.

Until the bug shield that is. Now (only) the drivers mirror shakes from 45-60mph. I'm going to try the remedy posted in another thread about applying adhesive wheel weights and will let others know my results.

I just ordered my carbon fiber bug deflector shield. I had to do it. I'll let you guys know how it looks when I post my pics next week of the latest mods.

I recently installed the GM version of the bug shield w/ the Avalanche logo. I have received several compliments and I like the look. My only negative is the vibration noise at 65 mph - 75 mph. Is there a fix for this? :B:

I am on the fense on this one. I like the idea of less bugs but don't like the way it changes the look; even the color matched and the clear.

I also have the GM shield with logo. It looks OK. I wish it was a little shorter. The Lund I had on my '01 Yukon XL wasn't visible from the drivers seat. The only reason I put it on is to keep paint chips off from the leading edge of the hood.

I bought the Lund. Dealers around here were telling me it would take a week maybe longer with the holidays...for the GM one. Performance shop here in town had the Lund, $89.00 for right now $65.00 to wait a week. I chose right now. Great look. I haven't noticed any noise that others have commented on, here. >:D

:8: PAY ATTENTION to the last step, if you're going to use the double sided tape, while trimming the excess, I cut some of the rubber windshield molding :7: YES I will be ordering that part on Monday!

I just installed the GM bug sheild with the etching in it and looks good. I have done the tape mod noise gone, only mirror vibration on drivers side, I have read somewhere here that wheel weights can be used to eliminate this prob. Has anybody tried this and how do you do this. Thanx Tazman (y) :B:

I just bought and Installed the Chevy bra ;D and It looks nice. I will have to test it this weekend for my trip to Colorado.
The installation is easy and the looks are great also.

Have fun!
>:D

I have the GM bug deflector. I did the tape mod. The deflector should have been renamed to hood protector because it just seems to protect the front of the hood. It still allows stuff to hit the windshield.

The deflector also disrupts the airflow around the AV. A common complaint is that it causes buffeting of the side mirrors which is the case with mine.

I just keep it on because it is protecting the front of the hood.

Does the Lund Interceptor use the same push-in spring metal nuts as the GM deflector, or does it use nylon nuts?

The DriverDesign model I have also used those useless spring-steel clips. They didn't hold it secure enough and it started vibrating after a couple weeks. Since I got it at the dealership, I drove back explained the situation and the parts guy gave me 6 of those nylon inserts. Those are the stuff.

I installed the GM bug guard a week or so ago and I'm still trying to decide if I like it. I haven't done the windsheild molding tape yet because I'm not sure I have any extra noise - haven't been out on the highway yet, but there are lots of 55MPH roads around and I don't hear any more noise.

It attaches with screws and 3M tape - can it be removed if need be?

I have the Bugflector II by Auto Ventshade and I love it!
I has a low profile and a sculpted shape to match the front end of the AV. And the price was right too $43.99.

Because of the low profile it doesn't deflect much from the windshield but it also doesn't cause the dreaded mirror shake or additional wind noise (no need for tape mod).

It does protect the leading edge of the hood and it also looks cool! ;D

already installed along with the window sheilds when in bought the av, thought it looked good so i left it own

Boy, I've been considering the bug shield, but with all the comments, I don't know.
I have the bra, but live around a lot of trees, and the leaves just pile under the hood protector. Took it off and put on the flag emblem. Looks great, but I'm afraid of hood chips and our infamous "Love Bugs"
Well, I'll just have to keep checking and make a decision.

I have had my AV for 17 months and I finally found the bug deflector that I want. (I ordered it today) The only place I could find it was here. Lund finally make a stainless steel bug shield to fit our AVs. I saw one of these on a silverado several years ago and wanted one for my Tahoe, but already had a plastic one. Now I get one for my AV.

Anyone else have one?

To delivery of my Auto Ventshade Bugflector II this afternoon and install took an easy 5 mins. I was skeptical about installing a bug sheild because fellow AV'ers were complaining about high speed vibrations. But since there is a fix (double sided tape) I went ahead with the installation so I could prevent any more chips on my leading hood edge.
The smoke guard goes well with my black AV. I took my AV on the freeway and got her up to 90...no viberations or increased cabin noise. This particular bug guard has no upward lip on it. Perhaps some that causes vibrations has this upward lip.
I am a happer camper now...although I really doubt that I will get less bug splats on my windsheild, but for sure my leading edge will be protected.

I have had the WeatherTech deflectors on multiple Suburbans and my Av, would not be without one. Never have had any problems with vibration or noise. I also like how they look.

I love mine. I have the one that says Avalanche on it. I think it looks so cool.

Anybody know where I can get the installation instructions for the GM Bug Deflector? I had my dealer install it, and believe it or not I think they got it wrong. There are two rubber strips that they placed on the bottom curved edge of the Deflector right above the headlights. I think they are supposed to be between the headlight and the Deflector, not on the leading edge. I can't see the purpose. They have it on crooked anyway so I have to take it off to adjust and I might as well get it right this time. Thanks

I got the Lund with the backside painted black to match. I like the Ave better without it, but I am think it does a good job warding off potential stone chips. I had to silicone both sides of the windshield to keep the rubber from flapping. If I were a bodyman I would take it off and keep repainting the hood. BUT I'm not so it stays.
