Check this out the other day i put my avalanche in tow/hawl took off then put the transmission in neutral and my gas gauge went to empty and my low fuel light came on. Could not get it to go away untill i stoped put it in park and then put it back into drive. I also tried it a couple of times to make sure. try it to see what happens!! ???

What did the range (dist to empty) readout say? I have this happen intermittentaly and the distance to empty just displays 3 dashes... like "- - -". I have never seen that otherwise... it usually says "FUEL LOW.

What year and what model avy do you have?

Let me get the steps right...
1) Start Truck
2) Shift to (D)
3) Engage Tow/Haul
4) Drive Truck
5) While driving, shift to N

If that is correct, nothing happens to my '02 Z71 :)

Just for experimental purposes ya' know I had to try ;)

1.Start truck
2. turn on tow/haul
3. put in drive
4. Drive down the road about 30 mph
5.put truck in neutral
6 gas guage goes it empty.

2002 avalanche 2 wheel drive. ???

That's the emergency fuel jettison function. Look on page 12-55 in the owner's manual. The description of the function is next to the interval for changing the horn fluid.

LOL ;D Also the next page takes about changeing the air in the tires from spring air to winter.

Seriously though. I tried this on my 03 Z-71 with no luck.

Friend of mine had a girlfriend who asked him to check out something under the hood of her Honda. Afterwards he told her that everything looked okay, but she was a little low on horn fluid, and she should have the service people top it off next time she took it in for service. Boy was she pissed at him after asking the service guy to check her horn fluid! ;)

You mean , BOnedog, that you do not change your air in your tires each season??? I used DENSER air in the WInter, due to the colder temperatures........ :E:

I was at a service center and the kid came from the back an told a customer that she needed to change over from spring air to winter air for a 25 dollar charge. The lady agreed and paid the kid an additional 25 in cash on top of what she already paid. I just thought it was funny to add after the horn oil. Also a funny one... muffler bearings and kunuter valves.

2002 avalanche 2 wheel drive. ???

My father tried with with his 2003 Z-66 and it happened, so it's not just limited to the 2002's.

Max.

Maybe it's just a two wheel drive thing? I tried it a couple of times with my 2002 Z-71 (four wheel drive) and it did nothing unusual.

I suspect you are correct. I cannot get my 2002 Z-71 to do this either.
