No, I'm not kidding.

I think this is what I have on my truck. It looks like small blackish/brown bumps. I also have it on my front porch and on my house. It's on the underside of the porch too so I don't think it's tree sap or anything else.

Anybody have any idea on how to get this off my truck? I used the clay bar on it today and that didn't get it off.

How do I get it off my truck, or even better, does anybody know what kind of bug would do this and how do I get rid of them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

What exactly is a bug pad? How hard is it on the finish?

its a sponge wrapped in a scruby type cover and its made to be used on car finishes i havent seen any damage (scratches /marks) .ive been useing it for at least 10 years . sence i moved to cow country.

I have a similar situation in the spring. My neighbor has birch trees that produce a small yellow pod that STAINS!!!! :E: :E: :E: :6: :6: the paint on my AV's. I have to wash them almost daily to keep it off.

Have thought seriously about kicking up the ole chainsaw.... >:D

Don't figure I need the time off though and jail's just not my thing.... so.... I have to keep cleaning.

Is it possible that you've some trees that are dropping pitch or something?

Once you get it off,,, get (and keep) a good buildup of wax on it. That's helped me a lot.

I'm pretty sure it's fly "poop." If it was tree sap, I don't think it would be on the ceiling of my front porch.

I've got the "poop" off of my truck, I just can't seem to get the stain off. I'm thinking that the stain might be in the wax so I might take some dawn to it.

After I used the clay bar on the hood and re-washed it, the water still beaded like it was just waxed.

Shouldn't the clay bar take the wax off?

Pictures would help here........

Try DuPont #7 Clearcoat Polish, make sure it says CLEARCOAT. I've used to remove paint on my AV. It's hard to find, you could try some swirl remover. I think it will give you the same results

Extreme, I've had good luck using Turtle Wax Car Wash rags. For about $5 you get about 10 rags that are soaked in some kind of solution. They work great for bug/bird business, street tar, and dog drool, without thrashing your fine wax finish.

try the clay again....but this time go get clay magic RED.....the red is for severe overspray....and is a bit more aggressive....

I'll give it a try. Maybe I'll try the car wash rags also.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Yes, it is from flies. I get a ton, because there are cows across the street. I have had the same problem in the past with lighter colored cars. I use to use bug & tar remover, but it was an old vehicle & I didn't worry about the finish so much. I wasn't sure what was safe to use on the AV. LOL, guess I am glad I bought black this time.
Last year I bought a fly trap & hung it in the garage. Unfortunately the smell of the attractant was so bad I had to take it down. I just recently went out & bought some of the cheap sticky tar paper traps that pull out of a tube. Not a cureall, but definitely helps.

Funny, I stayed away from this thread because of the title, but now I wonder if what I have may be, in fact, bug poop.

I have tiny brown dots all over my Av. I thought it was sap because I park on the street generally under a tree, but maybe it isn't...

I have Thursday off, I think I'll try to get this crap removed then.

Where do we get the clay bar RED that was mentioned?

Craig

CLAY MAGIC RED.....ONLINE or at a local body shop supply........

Clay magic sells BLUE bars in autozone walmart etc....

Any tips on use? Do you use car shampoo as a lubricant like you do with the Zaino bars?

Craig

YES>....these guys invented the body shop clay....and have the patent and well SUE everyone who makes clay without giving them some $$$$$$$

USe car shampoo mix, clay while washing....or use a QD....it does not matter too much

Then there's bird poop removal - from a post on corvetteforum:

Your biggest mistake was not licking it off with your tounge.
The PH in your saliva will neutralize the acidic content of the droppings.

I saw 3 guys do this at Hershey on their $1,000,000.00 vehicles, and they told me you MUST use your tounge, because to spit on it and wipe off with a rag will sctratch & etch it into the surface. Something about the nodules on the tounge etc..

Anyway, I have posted this before, and people call the BS patrol, but I AM telling you, if you don't want poop to etch into your finish, LICK it off, as gross as it sounds.

I have seen this done in person, and it works.

Well I guess if I had a $1 Mil car I might be tempted to do that as well... but I just can't help thinking that if I truely had a $1 Mil car then I would be paying someone else to lick it of the car for me.

(and she would probably be wearing a tiny bikini) >:D

Holy Bug Poop! It's not bug poop.

I'm getting my siding professionaly cleaned and I explained what I had on the front of my house and on my truck. He said it's not bug poop but it's "artillery fungus." "No sh!t I said." ;D

Go to google and look it up.

It grows (and gets shot out of) rotting mulch.

I read that it's basically impossible to get off; siding or vehicles.
