Building a 10" Sub Box that is easily removable

I have been kicking around different sub box ideas for the last month. In my younger years I worked for a local custom car audio shop and did installs and built subwoofer enclosures. I had looked at building a mid gate box or a under rear seat arrangement but I did not won't to effect mid gate functionality at all. I also wanted a single 10" subwoofer with the proper airspace and to be able to easily remove the box if I was out and needed to use the mid gate.

This is what I'm working on. This will house a single JL Audio 10tw3. The cubic feet I am shooting for is .6 after sub and cutouts displacement are factored in. When I say that this is a tight fit would be putting it loosely. The magnet of this woofer will be barely touching the back of the box. I also was able to incorporate a way to hold the box through the cutouts for the rear glass holder.

I have a lot to do but wanted to post some initial pics. Next step will be building the covers for the hinge and window holders.

Finished cutting out the covers this eveningsub box 8.jpgsub 10.jpg. Nothing is glued in yet. Still deciding whether to angle the piece that covers the hinge.

Great looking build and idea. Great job and good luck. Can't wait to see how it looks when finished.

Changed the length on a few pieces and got it glued up. Looks like I'm going to have to wait a while on my sub. Called JL today and it's on back order until the end of February. I have plenty of other things to take care of. I am installing a complete system so radio, component speakerssub box 11.jpg and 5 channel.

Just got on to this thread, did you complete the cabinet? How does it sound? I am right at the beginnings of this process and like the idea that you have come up with....I have one of the JL 13’s because of its super shallow mountabilty (if that’s even a word) really interested in the final thoughts of this enclosure

I am gonna run 2 10TBXA
I think that's it...anyway both has a subwoofer and amp,in each box(each fit great under back seat,do I need to run two power cords from battery- one to each box, with amp inside or how?
