First off, I had to get rid of my Isuzu Axiom 4x4, really couldn't get me where I really wanted to go.

So I started out looking at Tahoe?s, One main reason, at 198? it fit in my garage.

The AV I didn?t care for much because if all the cladding, but it was a cool, unique and practical for what I was looking for. Full size, 4X4 that didn?t have a huge interior to cool down, even w/o 2 ac?s. I live in Arizona and it gets hot here. But still the cladding bothered me a bit. I checked the brochure and at 221? it didn?t fit.

There was just something about the Tahoe I didn?t like though. First off they are a hot seller and it had to be a Z71, ok, $46,000+ and I wanted off road capability.

The sales man was hot to sell me a AV, he demonstrated all that it can do with the midgate and the one he showed me had no cladding. Damn, I was sold. Also 5-7 grand less. But it won?t fit in my garage!!! So I talked my self into the fact that it would just have to sit in the driveway. But summers??????? The sun????

Well, I bought it, February 18th, 2004 Z71, White with fender flares, Charcoal cloth int., Bose, pretty much loaded,
And
I knocked down the door and wall in my storage room to fit the front end in into. Check out the image I posted....

How sweet it is?????????.

Great site

See there you go!

Awesome! Welcome to the club!

When we first got our AV we were kinda
concerned it might not fit in the
carport luckily it did. I don't know what
we would've done if it didn't! :)

You'll find though for being so big they
are really manueverable!

Again welcome!

White, WBH! Great choice Brother! Had a buddy do that to fit his Silverado SS in his garage. He only needed about 2 inches, so he reworked his wall a bit.

I really lucked out. I thought I would only about about an inch in each side which would make it tough to pull in, but after the guy was done I have about 3 inches on each side.

Nick,

welcome aboard the site, hopefully we can get you out to a gtg here in AZ. As far as the Garage mod... I remember someone posting pics of thier garage extention... the cut the back wall of the garage and made an elcove for the nose of the AV to fit in...

Edit: great pics btw just need some pics of your AV off-roading with us...

Nick,

Welcome to the club, We see you didn't waste any time getting into modding for the Avy. Well its a mod that hopefully most of the club members won't use but it works for you. Right?

Hopefully we can see you a an Az GTG soon.

So what is your next mod?

Azfun

Hi GrayAV, thanks again for the welcome, Hi azfun,

I never though of the garage being a mod but you know your right :0: So that's 2 so far.
I'll be getting a FM50 muffler here very soon. That will be 3 and I'm working on leveling raising the front end. Don't like the rake look, so I'm still looking into what I can do about that.

I'm excited about meeting some you guys at the next gtg, I'm game just keep me posted. I've got the AV dirty already but I don't like to push her without someone around. So I look forward to adding some pic with you guys.

I've check the Az site but there's not much happeing there from what I can tell.

Is there anyplace here that the arizona av's hang?

hey nick,

to see what all we have going on go to region V in the forum, and then go to arizona... here is a link

http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php?board=165

We all pretty well use this site, so you are right, not much action over at azavs.net, I am not sure if Sose shut it down due to lack of use or whats happening, I just did a post in region V a few days ago asking everyone to start using the local site and build it up... but this weekend it was gone...

There is alot of posts in the 4x4 section with regards to leveling the AV and the use of ford keys to do so... but many who have done so a year ago have removed them due to wear and tear on components, and some are still running them with no issues...

If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an e-mail and I will get back to you ASAP....

Regards,

Grey

NickAZ,

You know what I've always said.....If there's a Will there's a Way.

Great Job and welcome to the club.

My AV hasn't been indoors yet. I almost always fold in mirrors on S-10 and once squeezed a full size van in with mirrors folded. I knew garage was a mod when I bought the AV, both trucks will fit easy when I remove center pillar and get one large door. I'll have 2 good complete doors for sale then. :B:

Thats great, your Avalanche deserves to be inside! I remember my dad did this to our garage years ago when he bought a Oldsmobile that wouldn't fit!

Butch

My garage is definitely not big enough for the Av, no matter what I do to it. So when I had a choice between an Av parked in the driveway or no Av at all........well, that really wasn't a very difficult choice!
