I would still like to know how many people we have in Calgary. If possible please let me know about you, how old, married, hobbies etc. so we can start an actual club up here. I dont think we have too many members here. Now that spring is almost here we have some time to set up GTG's and show and shines.

Present!

I don't even have my Av yet, but as of tomorrow I will. Picking it up this evening. I'm 46, married with two kids, 18 & 13. The 13 sometimes likes to head into the hills with us still, but the 18, forget it. We love to head out on the gravel roads for a day in the old van, in fact, he made probably the last one of those trips last Sunday when we slapped through the mud between Water Valley and the Forestry Trunk Road. That's the Avy's job now. We go out camping lots too, we have an 19 ft Bonair that shouldn't be much of a challenge to an Avalanche. Hell, it wasn't even much challenge to the Aerostar.

Keep the info flowing, I'll be watching.

Driving to Jasper of Banff is one of the most enjoyable things the Edmonton Chapter does semi-regularely. We have so much to appreciate right in our backyard and most people do not take advantage of it. Until I purchased my Avalanche, I had only been to the mountains a handful of times and I was too young to appreciate or remember any of it. Now, I make a point of driving through the Rocky Mountains at least once per month in the winter and at least twice per month in the spring through fall, either for Avalanche events or simply to camp and appreciate nature with friends. One misconception is that all of our Avalanche events in the Rocky Mountains are roughing it or camping. In fact this is as far as possible from the truth. We have yet to do anything like this; all events have simply been driving through the mountains and stopping at sites to explore. The closest we have come to roughing it is stopping at Ram River Falls for a BBQ. Other fun events we have held are meets at Alberta Heritage Sites and museums such as the Reynolds Museum. Due to conflicting schedules, the next Edmonton Chapter meet will be held near the end of April. I am mentioning this because the Edmonton and Calgary chapters are quite intertwined.

I think we need to recruit more people for a club. There are tons of AVs in Calgary but only a handful online. Im 30, my wife is 28 and my AV is mainly offroad for work so its used to it. We dont have any kids yet but were thinking soon. Anyway i want to have at least 10 members or so before we can start events. I am going to start a webpage soon with members. Maybe get some stickers printed up or so, wait to see how many are interested.

Keep me posted.......we'll get things on the road

By the way im a SERIOUS fly fisherman

Gyro, good luck with an offroad club. As I've said before my Av will not be going off road in this lifetime but I'm sure there are many others in Cowtown who are interestred.

In Chicago right now. This place is overrun with Avs. mostly street trucks

Sparky Sparky Sparky,

Im saying my truck is mainly offroad for work not for pleasure, it kills me to get my truck dirty. So what im saying is, is in town meetings n such and cruises that involve pavement only.

Hello fellow calgarian. I will be picking up my AV in mid june. I've saw some really nice AV driving around here, including an all white, all black and all pewter AV's. I like to know who are the few paint shop(s) in town that do proper painting of bumpers and cladding.

Yet another Calgarian here! I'm 29, married, no kids(none wanted) and drive for Greyhound. I spend a lot of time on the road for work and a lot of time keeping the av clean!

Triple K in High River. Tell Lorne the dumbass with the black Av sent you. He still has my old hood, and I have not paid him yet for painting my ramair hood
He did my cladding paint almost 2 years ago now.

I think I know the pewter one as well. Doug Green of Highcountry Chev took one look at my truck and had to get his demo done. Has since sold it to a guy in Calgary. If it is the same truck Lorne did that as well. Runs a nice set of 20 chromes.
StripTech paints Av's as well, does a lot for dealerships, but you'll pay top dollar for it.

this all black AV i saw wasn't you, it was black on all cladding. Its license is B## ###. I forgot to look what wheels the all pewter one has. :3: Top dollars huh? :-X I'm saving some $ for propane conversion as well.

I am from Edmonton myself but I wanted to welcome you to the group. :) Driving for Greyhound sounds like a cool job.. dad wants to get into something like that now that he is entering his older years. He's driven things like that for decades and thinks Greyhound might be the way to go. :) I'm comfortable just riding in them. :)

Hello Calgary !. I am from High River as well. Not there very often but when I am I would be up for a GTG with our locals. Busy this year in the oil patch so I won't be around a lot but do try to keep up on "the forum" Couple of snaps of the "Rig-Pig" . Gotta love those big blocks!!!!!.

Hey GyroMan: Wondered when I saw your name if you were a Sperry / Haliburton et al, directional consultant. I am / have been a consultant with Norcen/Anadarko for a l o n g time. Currently up in G.P. / Dawson area.

I work for Gyrodata out of Calgary. We currently just bout 40 MWD tools which operate for vertical wells that the drillers run. Its sort of like a teledrift or dmt tool but it gives azimuth as well. We are just short on field hands to run these things out to the rigs. So my AV is getting up there for mileage at 125,000km and she's only 1 1/2 years old.

Formerly Medicine Hat, now Calgary, rode the Greyhound up to Calgary to pick up my av but now our home is Cowtown, where we should be. Love this city. Parking stalls are a little small though. ;)

Worked in Calgary for two months last year towards the end of winter. Stayed in downtown mostly. Thank G_d for the underground pathways.

I looked for AVs while I was there, but didn't see much. I was heads down at work. :)
