Does anyone know how much the California emmissions will alter the performance of the AV.. Also is there any MPG differences that anyone is aware of between the cali and reg vehicles.

I am looking to purchase the av soon and if i am ordering it the Cali emmissions may be the way to go.. I am in Colorado now but my family is in Cali.. Besides should be better for the ozone right??.

There appears to be no difference in horsepower or torque ratings on CA vs. non-CA emissions equipped cars or in MPG. Only difference appears to be that the CA (and NY I believe) are certified as ultralow emissions vehicle (ULEV) and the rest of the country just low emissions vehicles (LEV). Since there is no cost to the CA emissions option I'd go with that - especially if you are planning on living or moving to CA. Not like this is going to make the Av into the environmentalists choice though.

From what I've learned, engines with CA emissions are tuned specifically to optimize the fuel mixture in this state. Use another state's gas, or bring a non-CA engine here and use our gas, and MPG tends to go down. However I don't know what it is about the mixture.
