California Water Blade

I do not like using squeeges or Cali water blade for fear of some dirt being on the paint and then dragging it across the paint making a swirl mark.

I prefer the leaf blower followed by micro fiber towels for drying.

I have used the cal. water blade a few times so far and had no problems or marks (maybe just lucky so far).

I use the Cali Water Blade...only after just washing it though! It works great, dries the hood right now, no runs, no drips, no errors, no streaks. :) I use it on the rest of the truck to get the "heavy water" off then I only have to use one towel to finish dry.

Just bought a California Water Blade and used it on the Av this past weekend. It's good, but doens't replace a final drying with a towel. Works great on such as the hood and flat sides - not so well around the roof rack.

Overall not a bad accessory to add to your car wash kit.

Be careful with the blades....make sure you wipe it often and have a clean truck else it will drag dirt.

I still say to try a leaf blower after letting the water run in large sheets across the paint.

I use a gas powered leaf blower and it works very well. Just have to be careful not to get to close and scuff the paint with the tip. After the blower I only need one towel to finish drying and a hand towel to wipe out the door, hood, and tailgate jams.

Wouldn't you know it....just go done washing the Av...and the next thing I know...RAIN!!! and more RAIN!! nothing more discouraging...

I thought you folks were having a dry spell, this could be a new career opportunity - rainmaker. ;D

What is up with that....I washed and waxed my AV and Monte Carlo yesterday and it rained....Had to go any re dry them both..

I would think using a leaf blower would be bad for your AV's finish. It could blow anything that is in the air, directly into your paint. it would be just like driving down the road at 80 mph. you pick up all sorts of crap.

I have used the California water blade on my new beetle (and it is a show car). no scratches swirls or anything in 3 years of use.

With the sealant now the leaf blower does not have to be too close as it runs off easily. plus it gets those drip spots.....mirrors, sail cladding.

Rob,
Just wanted to tell you that based on your rec, and knowing how particular you are about your cars (y) , I bought a water blade. Tried it this weekend and was very impressed. Used it on all 3 vehicles. While it is useful on the hood, sides and covers on the Av, it was AMAZING  on the DeVille. Those long clean surfaces were a breeze to sweep with the blade and I didn't have to towel dry it at all ;D.

Thanks again for the recommend. (y)

I new some guys doing detailing that used a 12" or so piece of copper tubing attached to an air compressor. They crimped one end to a generic hand actuated valve with a quick connect to the hose, and crimped the other end almost flat so that there were many small holes in it. End result was a pretty high presure air flow that was very wide and not too high. (kinda like a wiper blade) Anyways, it was easy to manuver, light weight, and made the task of drying very quick. Most compressors have a air filter to prevent dust inside the compressor. It even was able to get to tricky spots especially between door jams where your towel can't get easy. You do want to be carefull that you don't kick up anything off the ground but with the AV's cladding, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

has anyone tried the California Water Blade it says "The Original California Water Blade easily whisks away water and its soft medical grade silicone and patent-pending T-Bar tip will not scratch the surface or leave deposits."

I got the duster today, I was just wondering about the Water Blade?
?

Yes, that water blade is an excellent buy. It makes spotless drying a breeze - and that's something that can plaque us black AV owners. Got mine from Walmart

I use one on my black Av. It's great for doing the hood and other large areas. It doesn't scratch as long as the truck is clean. I wouldn't use one to wipe rain off, I tried that and found the paint scratched from the dust/dirt that was on the truck already. In all it's great because it cuts the final drying down to one towel.

I have one and it works well on the large areas. It especialy works well if you have many coats of Zaino ;)! Don't bother trying it on the roof with the racks. It's to large for that area in between. I first use the leaf blower to get rid of the water hidden in the mirrors, cladding, etc. Then I use the Waterblade, and finish up with a 100% cotton towel.

Yes, I've used it too (about 2 years or so) and it works great... Hmm, must be a color thing ;) I have a black Ava. too, and it really is hard to keep clean, but the blade at least helps.

I was at Sam's Club today and picked a blade up 12.99 Will give it a try later in the week. I think I should have got one years ago.

Since I started drying my Av with the yard blower ( a trick learned here), my neighbors think I'am nuts :2: and people driving by slow down to stare at the guy "blow-drying" his rig . I too will be trying a blade! :0:

Steelheadchaser,

My neighbors figured out I was nuts a long time ago so they have gotten over anything I do with Big Blue.

I have now run wiring in the expansion joints of my driveway and up a nearby basketball goal to attach a big halogen light from the backside of the goal so I can wash at night when cooler!!!!!!!!!!
