I know of one up for sale, they want 40k. KBB says it should be worth high 20’s. It has 80k on it, I would be curious to know what they paid. 40 just seems outrageous to me...

Unless you can get the original owner to show you a sales receipt you can only guess what they paid for it originally. It's all a matter of supply and demand at the time. Some locations where sales were brisk tacked on "market adjustment prices" other dealerships felt since it was the last year of the AV and sold as a special edition they tacked on further price increases. Most dealers sold at suggested msrp though which was somewhere around $50,000 depending on trim levels etc.
The seller is probably attached to the AV and feels that it is rare and worth more then it really is but again supply and demand will show them if someone also agrees and pays the price.

They can ask whatever they want.

Thanks for the replies, I am fully aware they can ask whatever they want. I have an 03, I would hate to see it go, but living in the northeast winters and salt are taking a toll on the body behind the cladding. I’m hoping to repair it !! I would happily buy a 2nd one but paying 15 k over book value seems a little crazy. We have a 79 z28, a 98 suburban, I try and take care of our vehicles. Losing the 03 av would be difficult, the fact that they quit making them is the worst part.

My point was, they can ask anything they want.

Now, you can offer whatever you want.

Maybe everyone can meet somewhere in the middle where both are happy.

Sometimes if they get only one realistic offer, they come to understand the actual market for the truck and buyer ends up with a good truck at a decent price.

May not.

If it wasn't supposed to happen, roll on down the road and continue your search.

Best of luck.

As far as I can tell my 2013 LTZ Black Diamond Retailed for $45,000 2-wheel drive and the 4-wheel drives sold for around $48000

Avys seem to be holding used prices well since not made an people final realize how good they are.

My 2013 LT with the All Star package stickered for $41k. It’s a 2 wheel drive with most options. It has 78k miles and is in excellent condition. I could probably get $23k pretty easy based on what I’ve seen. I paid $37k out the door back in Feb 2013.

I recently purchased a 2013 Diamond in Topaz Blue for just under $26 with a documented 47K miles...love this color and no Tupperware fade to battle with.

According to the papers I got with my 2013 White colored Black Diamond, he paid 44533 on 2/6/2013 in Illinois.
I bought it for $14,999 on 3/23/2020 with 155,364 miles on it, verified.
They gave me $2000 for my 2004 LTZ with 288,000 miles on it, in very good condition.
99.99% all works. No sun roof or back seat video.
I think I did very well as many around here (Iowa) are 20,000+ with around 100,000-120,000 miles.
I did replace left rear quarter as it had very slight rust.

Latest finished restoration 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner retractable (on the main page).
What do you think?

I bought my used 2013 in 2018, 48K miles for $30,000. Was totally mint southern car. A Z-71 (way prefer the Z-71 with body flares), HD Tow Package with factory brake controller, etc. , leather, DVD, sunroof, etc..

This replaced my 2003 that rusted out!

Kwic-Av, I understand where you’re coming from...but “Tupperware”? Ouch! You’re entitled to your opinion of course, but people choose to post in the first-gen section for a reason, so that sentiment might not be as popular in this section of the site. To each his own. Out west they love the first gens for the “body armor.”

03Av, love that you want to keep it! There is no repairing rust, only replacing it. Anybody who says different owns Bondo stock!

I have an ‘03 with frame rust (sad face here) that I have to get rid of. Just bought an ‘04 2500. Might b nice to sell the old ‘03’s rust-free doors to somebody like you.

I was ignorant when I got into avy’s. I didn’t realize that they’re basically a Silverado from the cab forward, with all the value-holding power that they have.

I affectionately call the Avalanche “a Silverado with cargo pants.” :)

I purchased my 2013 Black Diamond 4 by 4 with all available options with 60000 miles on it 5 months ago.. I shopped Everything East of Mississippi and found 4 or 5 with miles around 50 most sold for crazy money I found one in state with 60000 and paid 31 with taxes And although I paid a little more than what it was worth I gladly paid it for the mileage and condition. This is my 8th avalanche and I was in the car business for 13 years as a wholesaler so I know what they should be bought for but you just can't find them with good miles in good condition anymore. As someone above said they are worth what you are willing to pay if you get the right one.

New to the forum and I just bought my first Avalanche two months ago. 2013 Black Diamond LTZ, black with black leather, black 22 inch rims and 127K miles. Paid about 24.6K with fees, tax, and tag. Nitto tires were cupped out so badly, couldn't tell if it had problems or not. Rode like crap and dash rattled like crazy. Private mechanic checked it out and said all was good except the obvious, cracked dash, sh*t tires, and the transmission needed a fluid change in a bad way. After a new set of Goodyear Fortera's, new fluids all around except the radiator, new plugs and tune up, floor mats, 2nd key, 2nd remote and a Dashkins install, I'm in about 28K. Absolutely love it. Still have the 335i convertible but wondering if I need to take up that space in the garage! Looking around at prices now, after the sale, and I'm very happy with the deal.

Just purchased my 4th AV last night. Been looking for the past month and just needed to be patient. 2013 Black Diamond LTZ 2WD only 39K miles for $35K. The previous owner folded up the window sticker and put it in the Manual, original sticker price was for $48K. Was always garage kept, leather doesn't even have creases in it. I totally lucked out.
Now I just have to sell my 06 Z71 on Craigslist.

Congrats! Need to see pics.

Just one right now from up above. Swapping wheels between the two. Getting her smogged and cleanup this weekend to list Monday. Previous owner never even used or knew about the midgate feature.

Very nice. Congrats.
I had the same experience - previous owner of the 2013 I bought, owner did not know there was a Midgate.
