thank you.

You might want to check this out.

You also can add addtional modules and relays to it.

;D umm i was thinking more of an aftermarket one's. like the one with display on the remote with remote start features. there are not just plug and play so i'll have to probe around for the right color wires. does AV nees a special module to bypass the ignition system for the remote start? i've heard the AV has a chip on a steering so only a right key can start the car. I can probably find these wires but feels kinda lazy ;D so anyone who might have installed an aftermarket system with remote start can help me ??

I see. I think wvBubba Has a Viper Installed with Remote Start.

wvBubba Are you out there?

I have a question about this topic.
I bought the AV used and it had an alarm system installed, no siren thankfully.
The window sticker says "Theft Avert", which I have never heard of.
It has the proverbial little red button tacked under the dash.
I have searched for theft avert on several engines and can only find that it is an alarm system, no data.
So it just sits there, it could possibly have some decent use, but I have been unable to find any.
The only thing I have noticed is that after several/many silent uses of the remote lock/unlock, it will start to honk the horn when it is used, once for lock, twice for unlock. (or vice-versa)
I can press the red button, it will honk twice, then revert back to silent again until the next "cycle".
Does anyone out there know anything about this unit?

>:Dwell sounds like it's el cheapo alarm...probably a generic alarm that previous owner paid hundreds of dollars for it ;)
red button i\m thinking it's valet switch where you can bypass the alarm or deactivates it. if you can locate the red LED light somewhere in your dash, put the key in the ignition and turn the key. then push this red button and see if the LED lights up.........then the unit is off......and well if it just sits there then what good is it? :p i\ll say rip it off and treat yourself with an updated alarm... ;)

The newest viper system with remote start and the pager, is the best choice. However the pricetag is a little high, $500. It is well worth it though. I am planning on having it installed over the holidays.

rclydly,

Getting into an alarm install can be an absolute nightmare! If you aren't 100% confident that you can perform the install flawlessly, don't mess with it. Even if you obtain wiring diagrams from a dealer the vehicle you are working on may be different, which will further complicate your life. This is the only 12V project that I would encourage someone not to mess with, due to complexity, potential for vehicle damage or worse, loss, and potential electrical failures that you have no idea about. Find a good shop in the area, hopefully one with a MECP certified alarm specialist, and let them do the work. They will be liable for problems, should any arise, and repair the system under warranty.

I want to install a Viper with Remote Start but I'm not sure if one can be installed and retain the key fob features for memory 1 and memory 2 from the factory.

I had the Viper 550 before and really liked it but when it was installed I lost part of the functions of the factory keyless entry. I'm really surprised that a provision wasn't made by Viper to retain the original features.

Has anyone had a Viper with remote start installed and if so, do you still have the memory features? With my factory key fobs I unlock the Av and the seat, stereo, hvac, mirrors etc. all move to one of two memory setting?

Let me know your experiences. Seems as though the VSL4200 doesn't even interface completely.

SJ,

FYI: I have the new 790XV up above the 550..You will need a bypass module in order to use your factory keyless entry...

With Any new aftermarket car alarm, it is mandatory to have a bypass module do to the Airbag system, lights, radio...you name it...it's a big list...

you be amazed but you do need the bypass for the new GM vehicles and the AV is one of them...

;)Thanks planet AV. i bought a compustar 2 way yesterday and planning to install tjis weekend. also bought a 555L bypass module for the starter.
Wish me luck ! it's got all the bells and whistles like the viper plus remote paging feature where someone can tap on the window sensor and pages me remotely.
here goes nothing~~ :)

Hey planet av I would be interested in one of the viper's, how cheap are you talking about?

Thanks, James R.

So does that mean I'm gonna have to carry 2 different key fobs? One for the viper/remote start and one for the keyless entry? Seems like these manufacturers would try to interface with the BCM for the memory features and keyless entry.

Planet av, I took a look at the link for the viper and I like the setup, it looks like it would be perfect for me.
If you can get me a good price, at least better than retail, maybe we can do business.

You'll only have to carry the viper remote.

I had A Python system installed with remote start and it works great. The factory system still works with the stock remotes. With my system he could install window relays so I can roll my windows up and down from my remote.

The window sticker says "Theft Avert", which I have never heard of.

Theft Avert = Number eched in auto glass to return glass to rightful owner in case of theft recovery.

From the Company's website, Theft Avert
Theft Avert? Window Etch

The THEFT AVERT? Complete Vehicle Marking System combines two popular products including Window Etch. These anti-theft systems are backed by a variety of product warranties that the agent/dealer choose to offer.

All warranties are fully insured by FFG Insurance Company, a subsidiary of The Aon Corporation. FFG is rated Excellent by A.M. Best Company through a master policy with IAS?. IAS? has a national contract with the National Insurance Crime Bureau to download all IAS? consumer information monthly so that law enforcement agencies can access the information to track the stolen vehicle back to the owner.
