Just after I got my EXT I folded down the rear seats to haul some stuff only to find a big void between the seats and the MidGate. The seat hinges were exposed and several items fell down under the seats. I didn't want to drop the Midgate as I had the rear covers off and it was 30 degrees outside.

I found this neat Cargo Deck that solved the problem. It is custom fitted for both the Avalanche and EXT. It fits between the midgate and seats resting flat on the back of the seats covering the seat hinges and making a great cargo area. It has a non-skid surface and looks like it came from the factory.

They will also apply the same material to your seat backs making the cargo area completely non-skid. Now the dogs don't slide all over and when I hall my gear for Dirt riding the cooler doesn't slide all over the place.

The other cool thing is, it is designed to store in the same place as the rear window in the midgate incase you need to put the seats up or drop the midgate.

Found it at Rocky Mountain Accessories 970-224-2288.

I will certainly have to have one of these, had my Weim in the bak the other day and her leg got stuck in the opening, lucky but not hurt, this will keep that from happening again.

Just called, $149.99 + $15 Shipping= $164.99.... A little high but he told me it was very stout and it's molded nicely around where the hinges and that are. Also skid resistant

Welcome to the club - and an EXT owner (y)

Looks like a great find - do they have a web site by any chance?

Great find, escapin! Thanks for sharing.

How much did they charge you for the deck?

Are they a Bullhide Spray-on Liner dealer, 'cause a search on the pho turned up a dealer in Ft. Collins, CO?

I am in the process of creating a similar cargo deck made out of 1/8 inch high grade paintable marianti plywood. I bought the plywood for $8.00.

The template for this mod is already built into the Midgate itself: the rear window carrier pouch. No need for complicated measurements. Since it is the same size as the rear window, then you know where it can be stored when not in use. It is basically the same size as my other Plexi windows.

I also painted it black and placed special velcro fasteners for my 4 spare Plexiglass window.

The other side of the deck I will be placing a special deck non skid tape.I believe 3M makes this non skid tape and I am still looking for a black version (could only find grey and white). I am also planning to stick some onto the back of the rear seats because that surface is very slippery.

It is in fact a reversible deck that covers those ugly hinges when the rear seats are down and the Midgate is up. It serves to block this hole in the back and makes for a nice continous flat deck for loading groceries in the passenger cab.

It was fun and easy to do and sure did not cost me $164.99 ? (y)

Just wanted to add some additional information. At first I thought the price was a little high but the way this unit is design I have found it is well worth the money. I am very particiular about buying quality items and I think this is a great one.

It has pockets that cover all the hinges and fits into the indentions on the rear seats so the unit fits level with the molded back seat and the pockets over the hinges keep stuff from falling through. I had thought about trying to make one but didn't figure it was worth the time and it still would of had holes where the hinges were. Also the finish is virtually indestructable (trust me I tried) and makes it look like it came with the truck. Also has a life time warranty

I use mine every day. Now I leave my seats folded down all the time except when I need them. Helps protect them from the sun and other damage.

I spoke to the owner of Rocky Mtn. Accessories and told him about CAFC and he said he would wave the shipping and handling fees to club members on orders placed through March 31st.

FYI

I just ordered one for $149 (incl shipping). ?You need to let them know if your hinges are straight (most 2003's)or crooked (all 2002's and some 2003's).

I just tried to order one and I have to wait for the owner tomorrow. ?The guy said he was not sure of the pricing, but heard this was put on the internet and now their phone is ringing off the hook!

Why don't we go for a Group Buy on this baby!

Ordered mine today. I am also having them spray my seatbacks. They are going to get me a price on that tomorrow. I will post PICS when I get them.

avking,
Where are you taking your AV for the seatbacks?

escapin, great find. Although now I gotta put another thing on my 'must have before the National' list of mods. (Which, of course, is the list they are all on) Thank god for tax returns because my credit card is maxed. Where is that stupid refund check anyway! I should have had the IRS deposit it right into my Pay-Pal account. >:D

Let try to get in touch with them for a group buy, it already sounds like there is going to be a very large amount of interest......Chief is probably on it already.

If you check the web site posted for them, they offer the service. You remove your seatbacks and send them to them. They spray them and return them to you. He told me it is easy to remove them. Just sixteen screws and off they come.

avking --- was doing some surfing and hit the Cargo Deck Website. They have posted new PICS of the different hinge configurations along with PICS of the NON-SKID Seat Backs. It is a great up-grade and the Dogs love it (i had my done). I Will try to find my old invoice and post the price later.

:) :)

Can't find the blasted invoice. Don't you just hate it when you put something right where you know you can find it and then when you go to look for it, it is never where you look!!!!!

Any way if memory serves me (which is questionable) the seatbacks were right at $100.00.

I'm in for the group buy.

Who is getting this together?
I have not seen any takers yet. If not, I will be happy to contact them and set it up.

I'm in too! This looks like a great idea. Especially since I have the leather seats and a dog.

I keep covering the seats, but the dog keeps sliding around anyway due to the leather, and I would never let him on the leather witout the cover, so this cargo deck idea is perfect!

So, count me in! Especially if we get a group buy. ;)
