On my wife's suburban when you lay down the 2nd row of seats it forms a flat carpeted platform. would the part numbers for that work on an av?

what made me think of it was an ad on tv showing an av the other day, and it looked like it was made like that. I have not ridden in a 2004 to look for myself. it had the little swing down gate (6 inches wide or so) to cover the gap between the seat and midgate when folded. was i just seeing things. I quit drinking 7 tears ago but residuals are probably there.

Try a search....many have made them from plywood.....

Danwil made some and even included a SPLIT so it matches the 60/40 of the seat

HTH

i did search, and i've seen his before.

that's not what i want. it's nice but not "technologically" inline with my 21st century truck.

i guess i'm just a snob.

probably why I will not build my bedslide until i find a suitable material other than mdf or plywood to build it from. :)

If wanted you could prbably get it made out of SHEET ALUMINUM...and glue carpet to it....as long as the spans underneath were not too large it should be ok and not deflect too much......

Aluminum is light too...

IDEA...

Make a plywood template then make one out of fiberglass...? glue carpet .....??

heck for the ones that want to go faster make it from Carbon fiber hehehe

Nope, was obviously seeing things! ;D Or certainly my 2004 WBH doesn't have one. I built one out of plywood and carpet too. Works well, fits nice, and stores behind the seat when not being used.

If you are looking for something other than wood for a bedslide, you might want to look into boat building materials.

Malibu inboard ski boats have a very cool honeycomb alum. material for the floor. It's SUPER light and very strong. It's also one reason a new boat will run you upwards of $34,000 for a 21' boat. I believe it's around 5/8" think, I don't know who makes that type item, but it would be great for a bedslide. I bet a 4'x5' sheet would only weigh like 6 lbs and you don't have to worry about it rotting like plywood if it's wet.

I called and they are shutting down the company and selling the business as of Friday. She could not quote me a price, but suggested Koshi as a company making simular products. I am planning to build a bed slide this spring, so if anyone finds something like this, let us all know!

I like that about newer ski boats, we stuff the hot water shower in our wetsuits and let it just drain onto and through the floor, there is no wood to rot or anything, keeps you warm in those off season ski days. It can be snowing and we are warm and skiing.

No that's not what i'm looking for :C:. I just want the same thin permentantly attached carpeted pieces like on a suburban/yukon.

i want something that looks like the detroit guys did it themselves.

nothing against the homemade units, just not want I want.

i would like to just open the door, flip the seat/seats down and place my junk on a flat surface. maybe i can rob a set of the suburban to try.

HOw about removeing the seat backs.....and then having them carpeted?

that still leaves the gap between the seat and the midgate.

maybe it was an epiphony or "waking dream" a vision if you will, that i had about the flat back, carpeted, flip over "space filler" seats. the load flat area in the suburban's has to be the ticket.

my wife's burban is a 99, so i need to find a 2000+ to get a perfect fit.

any new body, burbons, tahoes, or yukons out there?

Making the flip-down piece of carpeted panel to cover the void between the seat back and the midgate is easy enough. Problem is you've bridge the gap, but you still don't have a nice carpeted flat back on the folded down seat to work with. I know what you are talking about - my Tahoe was nice and flat platform with the seats folded down. But the molded plastic back seat on the Avalanche is in no way similar. In other words, you are going to have to build a flip-down panel that covers the entire back seat, not just the void between it and the mid gate. Hence, the mid-gate deck that many of us have built. Otherwise, if you are just leaving it at the Avalanche seat back, it is not flat, carpeted, and the black plastic rounded backs don't hold flat-bottomed cargo worth a darn.

I have a one month old 2004 AV. With the seat backs on the AV, I don't think there is a perfect fit possible with any year Suburban "space filler".
