I'm new to the site. I have a 2004 avalanche. I put a cd in the player and it does not play. The cd icon in upper left just blinks. I push the eject button and it says no discs. How do I get the disc back out? Thanks

page 103 of the owners manual have this

My disc is stuck in the
player. The Load/Eject
button does not work.
Turn the DVD power off,
then on and press the
Load/Eject button on the
DVD player.

Do not attempt to forcibly
remove the disc from the
DVD player. This could
permanently damage the
disc and DVD player.

found this on the inter-web thingy >:D
While the car is off, hold the power and the eject button. Press your CD player's power and eject buttons down at the same time, holding them for about ten seconds. If your stereo has a "force eject" feature, it should spit out the CD.

My cd player comes on when the radio comes, there's no separate button

??? try and hold the power button on the head unit and the eject button.  The only other thing is to use something to grab the cd and pull as you push eject

There's no way to put anything in that slot. The cd goes someplace in there, can't even see it in the slot.

Do people still play cd's?

I still have a collection of 8-track and cassette tapes as well as a wealth of vinyl.

All of my CD collection has been digitized many years ago, along with my vast DVD movie collection.

All of the available slots in both of my truck radios have CD's in them.

Only my very favorite albums are there.

I found the streaming options from my iPhone to my stock truck radios leave much to be desired and I am not interested in replacing my stock OEM radios.

My misspent youth has permanently damaged my hearing from listening to Pink Floyd and such at max volume.

So, I have little interest in pushing the damage any further.

If I had only known then what I know now.

I only use XM during a free preview.

For the most part, I drive with the radio turned off.

Back to the OP's question, My EXT came with the optional 6-CD desk mounted in the lower dash.

Shortly after I bought the truck, the deck quit working, but was loaded with CD's.

I found a used replacement deck on eBay and swapped them out.

That was back in 2012 and the replacement deck still works today.

I had to disassemble the broken deck to extract the CD's since that deck had stopped responding at all.

What CD player did you put in?

Or was it a new head unit?
What did you have before?

This is the original Bose system that came in the truck. I tried that hitting the off button and eject at the same time and that did not work. I still use cd's once in a while.

Try pulling the fuse out for about 1 minute then put it back in. Then try to  eject it.

I found two fuses in the box under the hood that were marked radio, those two? Any other place to look?

I tried pulling the fuse for 5 minutes, that didn't work either. Don't know what else to try.

You can try putting in a blank CD or one you don't need, but hold on to it and don't let it go in.

Or pull the radio out and take off the top to see what's going on.

It won't accept cd's, even putting almost all the way in. How hard is it to take out of the dash?

not hard, you only need to pop off the bezel to gain assess to the head unit.
