Center dash rattle

I have a 2010 LTZ which has developed a heavy rattle or clunk which seems to be in the area of the speaker? grill in the center of the dash. Last year I had the whole upper dash replaced when the center latch between where the 2 panels meet broke resulting in the rear panel, the one with the speaker? grill dropping about 1/4". Is there a speaker under that grill? Can I get access to that area by removing the radio/navigation system? I don't feel that anything broke,it seems more like something came loose. I tried a search here but didn't find anything. Also tried a youtube search on how to get in there but only found out how to remove a radio. Thanks guy's,any help will be appreciated.

Here's a pic,it seems to be making noise right in this grill area. Right in front of the grill area is where something broke last year allowing this back dash drop down from the front dash panel. I assume these parts were all replaced last year to repair the broken clip. These Illinois roads are rough

Is it possible that you may have a few pictures to show the specific areas where this problem first manifested that you are talking about?

Just Asking?

I'm having the exact same rattle issue. Have already been through strategically adding thin velcro (soft side) strips to the vent panel's contact points which has helped tremendously, but the rattle that still persists is with the small center grill itself. I've isolated it to 2 corners, which I assume are of its 4 mounting points. Is there a way to access/remove/remedy just that center grill? I also assume it's for a speaker or a subwoofer port/vent, but I'm not really sure what its purpose is. Any help with this is much appreciated. As Gary already stated, Google searches for this particular problem result only in radio removal and dash cover/overlay installation videos. Thanks in advance!

*UPDATE*

Another internet search revealed the answer, which came from Crutchfield's website. In short, that center grill on the dash is for a center speaker. The grill itself has clips at each corner which pop off easily with a panel tool or small screwdriver. As for the remaining rattle, one of its two 7mm mounting bolts was loose! It's tight now and back together. That long-time rattle is finally gone. Crazy how such a seemingly insignificant thing to some can make you SO happy, or drive you SO crazy! Hope this info helps someone.
