Changing a flat on front of vehicle

Got a screw in the front passanger tire. Tire wasn't loosing air but decided I better change it before losing pressure while driving.

Take jack out and no where in the manual does it say where to place the jack. I found the frame and placed it there but could never get the jack up enough to pull the weight of the vehicle off the tire. It was close but would not work.

No where in the manual does it state where the jack should be placed. There is a black plastic cap on the top of the jack and I have to say I was worried that the vehicle would move and slip off.

I was able to drive it somewhere to get it plugged but I'm looking for some assistance from someone else. Where is the best place to put the jack for the front and the back to lift the vehicle so the tire can be changed?

Thanks

In the '04 owner's manual om pg. 5-92, it says to place the jack on the frame behind the tire where the frame sections meet. For the rears, on 1500 series, use the jacking pad on the rear axle, and on 1500 use the axle between the spring and shock mounts.

Just a suggestion, but this is what I do for all of my vehicles. I carry a tire plugging kit (with the T-handles) and an air compressor, and I just air the tire up enough to find the leak (if it isn't readily visible- as was the screw in your case), and plug it without ever pulling it off of the vehicle. It is quick, easy and relatively painless. And no, I haven't had to do it in the rain, snow, sleet, or hail.

same here with the tire plug kit, been using this method for 6 years with no problems... running 3 on the AV right now... only time I needed my spare was off-roading I put an 1 1/2" hole right through the tread from a rock... alittle to big to plug.. :2:
