Here's an Av that would ahve a better chance offroad against an H2.  This is an old AV, but was bad a$$.  I thought Poison SPider built it.

ok after those vids i went on a search watch how easily the steering breaks on this h2. Those rocks look pretty small to me! I think my avalanche could make easy work out of that. :laugh:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXP7qeEMEeU

Thats a broken tie rod, which i discussed earlier with the maestro of wheeling, eeaton.  Those who actually wheel their rigs swap out the tie rods with the Fabtech hd rods.  Unfortunately your rig shares the same weak tie rods as the H2.  For a wheeling tip(eeaton please read past this as you are a wheeling expert) the two enemies of the IFS in our trucks is wheel spin and forced steering.  Notice right before the passenger side tie rod snaps the driver basicly guns it and the drivers side wheel is spinning excessively.

I am happy for you. Your hummer is so great. its so great I think you should post all your H2 stuff on a hummer site. I was respectful to you and did not call you any names. but I guess that's how you need to show your intelligence. Maybe you should not post anymore on this avalanche site.

Eeaton discussion boards are for discussion, preferrably intelligent.  With proper content a message board can be quite resourceful as they are only as useful as they are accurate.  You should refrain from watering down what otherwise seems to be a very resourceful board with your innaccurate statements and opinions.  Blaten contradictions are called lies and detract value rather:

if gm WAS serious the h2 would have a full floating rear axle, a 4l80e trans and a diesel or bigblock for climbing torque and could actually tow something and be safe!

The H2 has plenty of power and you can search your eyes off and youll be hard pressed to find problems with the rear axle.  You have to admit the capabilities of a stock truck that rides and drives like a cadilac is very impressive.

Lets  try to keep this civil or it will get locked I'm learning a great deal about trucks and that is what this site is about

if you have to swap out tie rods out to make it offroad worthy, does'nt sound very capable does it? (y)

Not necessary but highly recommended and would aslo be recommended on your rig.  If i remember correctly the HD tie rods are around $200 and this is all that is needed to make them very dependable off road--no doubt the stockers are too weak for the rig.

i sure hope Fire Starter hasnt seen this thread :p hehehe

hmmm is it just me or does Boss Hoss seem like he may be an employee of Messer Motorsports...

:welcome: Boss Hoss you sound just like someone I knew once upon a time ;)

Lets face it.  The AV is a great truck.  But when GM decided to get serious about offroad they decided it was time for HUMMER.

Hmmmmm.... Lets talk about the H2 Rear Suspension.  Its a 5 Link Coil or Airbag Setup.  Very flexable.  I have not heard of anyone having problems with the rear axles.  The H2 does use the 6l80e has 400+ ft lbs of torque tows 8000#'s and as far as climbing well.....Proof:

Lets face it, its all very similar to the AV set up.  GM just turned it up a notch with HUMMER.

One more time keep it friendly

true in stock form It would beat a modified AV. no doubt about it.

Hummers climbing over everythign and no AV to substatiate claims.  They are two DIFFERENT animals but Im pretty sure the horse is dead!!!  As i am still trying to learn of the capabilites of the AV and to be respectful to the board please keep this civil as MichiganSilver has petitioned.

Yeah we don't need a bunch of folks insulting each other. That is why I'm staying close.

This is a good topic and I want to see it keep going.

Plus the mods have been busy all day deleting posts. They even delete one of mine, I think they have had enough and soon will be deleting people.

That's true Jimbo. I'll keep my 2500.

If I want to do some serious off roading H2 BABY in stock form (y)

Or tow 12,000 LB
