Seems as though three North Face Chevy Avalanche 4X4 found themselves in China as support vehicles for the Tsangpo Gorge Expedition.

The special will be shown on Outside TV (not to be confused with OLN) at 2:30 PM Eastern on Sunday, May 26, 2002.

Here is more info:

Here's another link that will have you burst with :B:

Is that the new, dark charcoal cladding???

steelheadchaser:

Wow! That's a find and I didn't even notice the charcoal cladding on the 2500 series in the picture! The PR said they used North Face Avalanches (North Face was also a sponsor) but that shot is pretty interesting...I'll cross post under future and vision...

I find myself liking that darker cladding much more than I thought I would, or wanted to!

Truckman, good catch. I have added "NBC" to the topic so everyone knows it is on broadcast TV and not cable.

Jamie

Watch the video of AVYs in action :B:

If you want more, try this link to elsewhere in the mag:

Expedition in Tibet's Tsangpo Gorge

(someone wise like g-man can re-educate me on how to post a clean link, that one is especialy long) - Jamie fixed it fer ya!

thanks Jamie - the G-man decided not to enable me, he gave me guidance instead, maybe it will take this time

Hey gang, pretty cool adventure. The cladding only appears darker because the the video in those scenes are underexposed. Watch the video again and notice when you can actually make out the proper tone of green on the Northface, the cladding looks normal grey.

It is an illusion that it appears dark grey but it gives you an idea of what the 2003 darker cladding will probably resemble

Chief: It looks looks like I will need to set the VCR to catch this program because I will be watching the Indy 500 at that time. We may catch a glimpse of a AV at the 500 because I know they have two red AVs as safety vehicles.

I wonder how much of a PITA it would be to swap body cladding for the new darker cladding in the 03's....maybe there will be changes made to the contours...may not be a direct fit... :B:

Doesn't the brush guard look different than the one GM offers.

See attached picture. It looks like the cladding comes out a lot further than the one which is available for us to buy.

XRover, The picture of the Av with dark cladding is not one of the prepped approach vehicles. It is at the bottom of the page listed in the chiefs post. It isn't a green NFE, but rather a a black 2500 (note the 8 lug wheels). It has no add-ons and doesn't have the North Face badging on the C-pillar. My guess is that it is a chevy supplied promo picture.

This is exactly what I'm thinking to. Hey can you give us a picture of an Avalanche for our site. Sure - let me hook you up with creative. Hey, can you send them some pics. Sure I'm working on some catalog stuff now.

D'oh! Sent them the 2003 pictures by accident.

Remember that 2500 shot - betcha you'll see that image again real soon!

It's on right now!! Get off line everyone or turn on your T.V.s. For the Sacramento folks, it's on Channel 3 (NBC).

:2: They just gave a story on the speed chan. about the AV but i fell asleep dag. Now on the Dark Clad My original dealer brochure for the 2002 has an Onyx Black AV with the dark Clad very nice.
