Cladding is starting to fade

The dark grey cladding on the back of my 03 Avalanche is fading badly. I took it to the dealership and, while acknowledging that they have seen the problem on other vehicles, they refuse to do anything about it. Is there a recall or any way to get GM to do anything about this?

There is a TSB out that says the dealer is to apply the Armor Dillo product for this issue, but I'm not sure this is for '03s or just '02s.

While I had hoped that this issue was going to be isolated to just '02s, I finally have to admit that I'm getting some striping on my sail panels. Weird thing is it's only there and not on other panels :cautious:

Now mine hasn't seen the inside of a garage since it hit the state of Florida from Mexico, and the only fading I have is the panels and a bit of zebra striping on the 3rd brake light housing.

Amazing consistency among them all.

If I was actually inspired to expend the effort, I'd get some A-D and deal with it. Might just have to wait a couple more years till my son is old enough to make him do it ;)

Many threads on Faded cladding....some in this section...and then some in the detailing section on how to hide it with protectants

Seaqrch for armo dillo...

then look at the 303 thread and the eagle one tire shine thread in the detailing section...tons of info that should help ya

I went to the dealership and they gave me the a Armor Dillo product to try. I'm surprised that this is not covered the same way that the paint would be. I'ts very dissapointing to own a one year old vehicle that has parts that look like they are 5 years old. I haven't tried the Armor Dillo yet, but very much doubt that it will be a long term cure. Thanks for the help!
