Well I knew it was going to happen sooner or later... my first "accident" with my 2 month-old AV. Still getting used to the huge blind spot in the back. Can you say backup cam boys and girls?

The good news is that the cladding saved the day. Because of the plastic, I have no metal damage and it looks like a simply cleaning job will take care of the plastic!

Man, if I had a WBH AV, I'd be crying right now!

Here's the carnage:

Heres what did it. (As you can see, I'm not the only one who has succumbed to the evil pipe fence. In fact most of the paint on my truck is from previous cars who hit the fence!):

Anyone have any ideas for cleaning up the plastic?

Now teksavy, tell the truth. Were you using your side view mirrors or not? ;)

I had a similar tangle with our driveway gate post. The AV was OK, but sure messed up the gate post! :p

I used a green 3M scrubbie and some cladding cleaner. Most of it rubbed out thank god.

Actually, I WAS using the side view mirrors. Unfortunately for me, I was using the WRONG one! (Pass side). I completely forgot about the driver's side fence.

Cladding cleaner? What kind?

Thanks for the tip BUT...

<insert Brady Bunch sad Whaaa Whaaaaaa Wha sound here>

Its for a 2002 AV. I don't think light gray and dark gray would look too good ;)

Well at least you were using one of them. I was using my rearview!

After trying about three of them, I found Bumper Shine by Granitize. It's a thick, gel like substance that does a great job cleaning/conditioning and stays around awhile.

Sorry Charlie Brown!

UGGGHHHHH!

Another one of those I hate it When that happens moments.
(it's on Ebay = wrong year)

Thats what I love about this club. Everyone always looking out for each other.

Thanks FSUGUY!

Sometimes I think I need BIGGER MIRRORS!@!#%%(#

Especially when backing up my utility trailer.... the back f the AV COMPLETLY conceals it. I back up very slowly

I don't know about you but on my 03 Avalanche there is a special feature for backing up. You can have the mirrors point to your bumper when you put the Avalanche in reverse. I don't know what options you have on yours but that is a really cool feature that I like. Mine is fully loaded so you should check that out. If you have options to set things for different drivers you should be able to do that I think.

Has anybody found small, wide-angle mirrors like on the 2500 for the '02 1500? I would like to have something that fits on the horizontal support arm for the exterior mirrors; was dissappointed when I found out the 1500 didn't have them. ???

Try StylinConcepts 1-800-433-6809.
I just got the catalog yesterday and it shows a blind spot mirror and a slide-on tow mirror that attach to the side views. (Don't know if ok for AV.)
