Well I almost lost my AV tonight but i got very lucky...let me give you the background on the story here...my friends and I headed to the cheap theater to see 8 mile b/c one of my friends is without income right now...well the theater is in a bad part of town and being cheap it gets some of the more questionable crowd...It's the only movie theater I've seen with a full time police officer...not just a security guard but an actual town cop. Well any how I get distracted while getting out of the AV and go into the theater...When we get ready to leave the theater i get out of my seat and thought i dropped my keys. We look around and I think, well maybe i left them in the AV and locked us out. I go up to th AV and my keys are sitting on the middle of a white notebook in the driver's seat and I'm thinking wow that was dumb...and i told my friends I don't have onstar programmed in my phone...Well i try the door handle and all four doors are open...there were several cars parked right where we were at...I got lucky big time. I'll check, double check, triple check to make sure i lock my doors and have my keys from now on...It's bad to leave the keys on the seat for over 2 hrs with the doors unlocked.
Now i think about it...some one might have thought maybe it's not the car to mess with in the neighborhood, If you get my meaning.

You sure did get lucky! I am always double checking to make sure mine is locked and we don't get a lot of thefts in this area.

Wow, you sure are lucky. I have kinda developed OCD on the locking of the doors. I will actually go BACK outside and make the horn beep two or three times before I'm satisfied. Sure am glad nothing happened to your AV.

Not only should you lock the doors, lock the tailgate because it's very easy to steal those tonneau covers too .

I am sure that those would be very expensive to replace but that's why people steal them :8:.

Glad to hear you came out lucky tonight (y).

LUCKKKKKKKKKKKKY! That's Why I never let go of my keys. . . and I always make sure that my doors are locked . . . I make the horn beep like 4 times.

i hate to say it but the bed was also unlocked...i normally lock it before i even leave my house but i had alot of other things on my mind and so it was unlocked along with the doors...but not again...not going to test my luck

Its funny because I never saw a cop in a movie theater on patrol there until a few weeks ago..... now that I think of it I now know why he was there ....

First of all if someone saw your car with the keys sitting in plain site in a neighborhood that has cops on patrol in the movie theater ...if I was the thief I would think this was a Setup or well ..... the owner of this truck is a .........Since you are a fellow member we will just say it was a set up

Now write 200 times on the black board I WILL NOT LEAVE MY KEYS IN THE AV AND LEAVE IT UNLOCKED >:D

the second reason was the first one that came to mind first but yes... the set up sounds reasonable too...as for the blackboard...will my friends teasing me for the next two weeks count?...i don't have a blackboard handy but could use regular notebook paper

Learn from this....U got a break. I am glad everything worked out for you. Hehe I like BlackAV reason "First of all if someone saw your car with the keys sitting in plain site in a neighborhood that has cops on patrol in the movie theater ...if I was the thief I would think this was a Setup or well ..... the owner of this truck is a ........."

I would tell you to use the CAFCNA Pads to write all that on but WE DON'T HAVE THOSE ..... Chief needs to talk to his site sponsor friend that owns a printing company for those little mods for the club ;D

By the way I am sure you aren't the only one in the Club that has left there keys in plain site. JUST DON'T DO IT AGAIN ;D

talk about a shorts changer. You had to have felt a slight drop when you found where the keys were and then even a bigger one when you found the doors unlocked.

On the brighter side, the neighborhood is better than you previously thought.

Yeah - maybe it's not such a bad neighbour hood.

Or maybe people just didn't think to check.

Either way, you got lucky. BTW I thought this thread was going to be about a crash. ;)

When my wife and I moved out west 10 years ago we stopped at Big Sky in Montana for a day of skiing. Well, we were running pretty late that morning (breakfast, ski rental place etc.) and I was angry and rushed that we were missing out on good ski time.

Of course, come lunch time I realize that in my haste I had left my wallet in the car. So had to waste more time going back to the car to get it. I get there, and I see the door wide open :7:and think "great, now someone's stolen all the stuff out of the car". I get to the car everything is there! I HAD LEFT THE DOOR OPEN! :2:A whole back seat filled with all the stuff we didn't want the movers to take (cameras, important papers, etc.!) WHAT AN IDIOT!

I guess anyone seeing the door wide open would think the owner was right nearby - 'cuz nobody is THAT STUPID. (And yes- I did tell my wife during lunch!)

I guess I'm not the only lucky one around eh?...It's a bad neighborhood but like they said most people probably thought i was into something illegal to own a vehicle like that in that area. any how if i do it again. It will be harder to see into the front side windows since i got them tinted today...

HEY DON'T FEEL BAD. I LEFT FOR THE WEEKEND (A COUPLE YEARS AGO) AND WHEN I RETURNED I FOUND THAT I HAD NOT EVEN CLOSED THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HOUSE. I WAS SHOCKED THAT NOTHING WAS GONE. NONE OF MY FRIENDS EVEN RAIDED THE 'FRIDGE. >:D YOU JUST GET LUCKY SOME TIMES... BUT IF YOU DIDN'T-I WOULDN'T WORRY-AS LONG AS YOUR INSURANCE WAS PAID UP. IF MINE GOT STOLEN, I'D JUST GET AN '03 AND PROBABLY GET A BIG BLOCK-JUST FOR SPITE. :0:
