Cold Air Intake

Apparently the previous owner of my BDE installed a Cold Air Intake on it. Everything I have read says it is a good thing, but one of the things my father taught me was that vehicles are usually worth more if you keep it all original. So, my question to the group is should I take it off or just leave it alone?
Thanks!

Keep the original parts around so if you decide to sell, offer to put it back on or include with the sale. An intake mod isn't going to make the truck any more/less desirable to a buyer. They claim to make HP/TQ, but really who knows. Your driving habits change your MPG more than an intake will.

Trying to decide a way to maintain a vehicle and also consider it as an investment is a very hard thing to do since it will depend on so many variables but end up being supply and demand.
Just watching the auto auctions on TV can lead to lots of guesswork and some people being happy with a sale and others very disappointed. I have seen where  a 1970s red Ferrari would sell for $50,000 and another red one from the 1970s sell for millions of dollars (It was owned by a celebrity and was limited model).
From looking at the car market the highest values seem to come from very low mileage pristine condition limited run cars all original and in demand. So if you have a high mileage used vehicle with lots of wear and tear then unless it becomes the fad to own one the value is not that great. Others collecting cars find value in modernizing an old vehicle and enjoying an old vehicle that now has features it never had as new. That kind of applies to hot rods and street rods etc. They can be more valuable modded vs. a "stock" version.

Thank you both! Unfortunately, it was installed before I acquired said vehicle, so I will probably just leave it alone for now. I just wanted to hear from somebody else as the internet can be decieving especially when it comes to vehicles. For now, I will enjoy my ride.
Thanks again!!

Since it is a 2013 Black Diamond Edition, there is a possibility it may become a collector's item in the future but with rumors of a 2016 model coming, that makes it less and less so. In addition seeing as how you bought it pre-owned, I'd have to ask did you get the Black Diamond Edition Coffee Table Book that came along with the truck and has the VIN number printed inside from the previous owner? If not, in collectors' term the truck is already a lot less desirable than the intake and other mods could ever make it. I don't suppose in the future it'll have much added value without the book accompanying it.

Unfortunately I did not get said book. That would be very cool to have! I suppose I could try and track down the previous owner and see if he/she would be willing to part ways with it. I could only imagine how that conversation would go..lol

Time to do some searching I guess.

Thanks for the info as I had no idea..

You definitely need to try to get if you can.
Here's a peek at some of the contents of the book.
