ok so after staring at my gagues for 8 hours on my back home from wild west... i was thinking... those pale orangy colored needles look terrible with my green glowing gagues... or white ones during the day... plus the numbers i got are red... so... why can't i have red needles? or any colored ones? would this not be another cool way to seperate your av from others....?

any ideas? maybe a small mold? i want to keep the glow... otherwise i could have painted them.

i think this would be a way cool mod. >:D

I was thinking the exact same thing when looking at my white face guages. You have me on a quest now. :)

BigRed, I know you can get like a 1 oz bottle of glow-in-the-dark/luminescent paint at craft stores. I think it goes on clear, or opaque. You may be able to paint the needles the color you want and then put a coat of the glow-in-the-dark stuff over the top. I don't know if the dash lights would be enough light to keep them 'charged' for night driving.

that could work... but i'm looking for more something around the lines of a clear needle with just the red on the back side of it. and it will glow at night just like the stock ones.

That's very tempting. Post some pictures when you get the installation done. I'm thinking of doing clear needles myself.

here's my idea ...... what do you think

take the stock needles and paint them with a glow-in-the-dark, luminescent, or something like that. i dont think the dash lights would be enough to charge the paint but a black light would be cool. if you mounted a small black light to the underside of the dashboard (above the cluster) it would light up the paint or what ever would glow >:D could be very interesting.

any thoughts

These guys sell needles. ?Maybe you can test them out on a set of extra needles. ?Or maybe the glow paint will look better on a clear (cadillac) or white (GMC) based needle.

Man - I have to go to bed. I keep getting ideas for more mods! That Escalade cluster is sweet and I like the idea of having the transmission temp gauge.

I'm working on the Reverse Indiglo guages myself so I may be very interested. I don't want to loose the glowing needles but I'm afraid I may have to remove the bulbs :6:. I'm not going to give up that easily, I thing I may look for a way to dim the 6 bulbs from the inside. Don't think it will work but it won't hurt to take a look.

Thanks for finding an alternative and I'm looking forward to some pics.

How hard is it to get at the cluster...It had it done only becaue I didn't want to run the risk of screwing up the needle settings when installing the platinum face gauge.. :B:

Cough cough.... Red needles... tada! oh yeah and for those who want red back lit numbers. (not for me)

OH, DUE TELL!!!!! How did you get the needle to glow red? Which needle color did you start with, white? How did you make the number switch from red to white to green?

Yeah so buy some white needles from a caddy and then replace the bulbs behind the cluster and well yeah... it's that easy. >:D enjoy!

MI_99XLP... You can get that "lighting look" from this website...
ExtremeFactoryFX ... scroll down to the bottom... and there ya go!

... I'm assuming that's where BigRed got the photo... I've seen that photo many times because I almost decided on that "red, white & blue look" but my hubby said "NO!" :(
LOL... he thinks I go overboard on the red, white and blue stuff... so I picked some reverse indiglo gauges instead and he was happy. ;)

The above mentioned site sells whiteface gauge faceplates and clusters with optional "Red, Green, Blue, and Red White & Blue Lighting Self Install Kits."
