Colored Letters?

All the dealers around here are adding $100 to the sticker price and having colored "AVALANCHE" stickers applied to the cladding where it says Avalance. (Is that clear?) They look pretty cool, the letters are cut out to match the AV logo and fit into the smooth recesses of te letters. They match the paint color.

I found someone that would do it for $55, so I figure the cost of the stickers has to be pretty low. Anyone know where to buy them?

Thanks
Fred

I can see where that would look pretty cool myself. If anyone knows where this is from, I'd consider buying a set for my Black Z71.

I'd be interested in a set. Anyone friendly enough with a dealer to get more info?

That is an exellent idea. My friend has chrome sticker on his corvette where there is the "Corvette" recess on the front and rear bumpers. I was also thinking about doing something with the "Chevrolet" lettering on the back tail gate. Maybe making that the color of the cladding. I am also interested in knowing the "Stickability" of the cladding. What is the sense of having these stickers applied if they are only going to peel off.

For those who might have missed it, someone on the board painted his lettering. Looked good from the pictures.

How's this sound...Victory Red Av Z66...Red insert letters and Grey (matching the Z66) tailgate letters...I can feel the mods coming on.

Hey, thanks, LazKat! I just ordered a set, great find!! They are going to look very cool!

Cheers,
Justyn~

Anyone who gets them please post some closeup pics. I'll be putting a grey "Chevrolet" across the tailgate with dark blue "Avalanche" on the cladding. Gotta prioritize tho' and get this thing alarmed next week.

I thought about doing this from day 1. Glad someone took the initiative to make the product. thanx for the find guy ;D

I have put these type of dye cut letters on Vettes before. They work well, and I havent seen a problem with them coming off. They go on a painted surface though. The first week I had the Av, I kept looking at the logo on the side and saying that it needs some color. I had given a lot of thought to painting the letters the came Indigo blue as the truck. Of course, once they add that eighth day to the week, maybe I can get all these things done.

Damn, the color options are insane. I want to order both the Tailgate letters and Avalanche letters but I don't know what color to get. My truck is the Forrest Green. What do you all think

Ha, I thought the same thing! :) I have a black AV, and thought that the black lettering would be best, but noticed they had black metallic! So, I thought the extra bit of metallic would look great, and contrast the gloss black just a little. :)

Have fun,
Justyn~

What about the Light Pewter? I have NO idea what color I would use....something dark enought o stand out a bit....but an offsetting color or just a darker shade of the pewter???

If this link doesn't work, go to www.stripeman.com, look at Tailgate letters and at the bottom is the Avalanche link. ?They have Avalanche tailgate letters and cladding letters in any color. ?$25.00 ?Whoever's charging $100 is making more than a few bucks for putting them on.

It's on my list, just not at the top...

LazKat thanks! I've added the link to the listing in the resources section! ;D ;D ;D

Also ordered the black set for my onyx black Av. WIll post pictures upon "successful" installation.

Jamie

It would be cool, but they don't have a color that even comes close to sunset orange. :cautious: but, I already have paint on order, so no big deal. just tape them off and paint them.

Wow. What more can I say?

I'm amazed at this group. One request, 2 pages of comments, and a source for exactly what I need. Thanks!!!

I knew the dealer's $100 seemed high, but if their supplier is paying $25 for the part and charging $30 (1 hour?) of labor, they mark it up and bingo, hundred bucks.

Now to sort through the colors to match Indigo blue then place the order....

Great group, eh Fred? I can always count on up to the date accessory information on this board, it's superb! :)

Thanks again,
J~

I just heard from Kevin at Stripeman.com re Indigo Blue:

Hi Fred....the color you need is Dark Bue metallic (# 59)

I will be updating the product description soon to show the cross reference to factory paint colors.

Thanks for the insight

So if you are still not sure of your color, check back later or ask them.

Yeah I'm waiting to see if someone puts the black metallic with onyx black, the picture looked a lil "greyish"

I'll probably go with black on my pewter Av, though adding a brighter color to liven up the somewhat 'grey' color scheme may be a good idea. There's certainly no lack of colors to choose from!

As for this site - while I've gotten good answers on other forums, this one is certainly exceptional in terms of the knowledge base and responsiveness. IMO, we only lack one thing - a couple of chevy technicians to provide us with a bit of inside scoop!

Well, I decided to go with the decals instead of the paint. Decals are easier to deal with in the future if you decide you don't like them. I talked to Kevin at Stripeman, and he said if you want to match the cladding almost exact for the Chevrolet, then go with the Baygray. That is more of a flat though. I wanted the metalic factory finish look, so he suggested the Medium silver metalic, #396. I went with that for the back, and the Dark Blue metalic #59 for the Avalanche on the sides and back. If they are anything like the ones for the Vettes I've worked with it should be great.
