Combat Modded Avalanches in Iraq!?

Loggie,
When are you headed to Arifjan for home bound?

Trying for 3 Feb.  Straight into Ramstein AB Germany from LSA Anaconda.

:offtopic:
Did you hear about the two AF guys from the Gun Truck Company that died? They were out of Arifjan.  They were are sister flight.  Had the rest of the crew in my office the night it went down.

Loggie,
Sorry for the loss bro!!! That stuff s*cks!!
We thought we had lost a man on mountain road (way up north country) to yet another 155 round I.E.D. and things were really tense around here till we got word from the field that the operator was OK and that they were bringing the Avalanche back south for me to fix! It was the armor that saved him!! I'll soon be posting the pics of it after I first got it back and since I have put it back in service!

By the way........ I'm loving all the stuff that folks are putting up on this thread!!!! It is just awsome! Any brothers in arms in Iraq can count on us for support any day!

Thanks!!! I'll check that idea out! If I can get away without the brakes dragging that may just be the answer!

I'm just saying to test it to see if the parking brake disables the lights. If it does you should be able to find the electrical switch that is tripped when the parking brake is engauged and put a manual switch on it. This way when you flip the switch the truck would think the parking brake is on (it is not though because I'm just talking about the electrical side of the system) and it would kill the lights. Like I said this is all just an idea and you need to see if the parking brake does what you want. It just may be an easier way of accomplishing it rather than a kill switch on the entire light system. That would work also but may be more difficult.

Combat Avalanche,

Any time you guys are down this way can put you up.

Sam

I just noticed this and if someone else has already asked I apologive. Where did you get your AV's from? The reason I asked is that one of them has painted cladding. Keep up the good work by the way.

Sam has the conections.  I am a prisoner in the JOC.  I just got put on night shift too.  (The JOC is the big movie theater where the General runs the war in Iraq from.  THere are three 10 foot high TV banks at the front of the room, 9x 65" TVs in each.  THere are rows of desks 11 high where all the sections and LNOs sit.  I am back on the right 3 rows from the back).  So I don't get out much.

OK, well we bought them locally here in Kuwait. They are pretty much the way we got them except for our own cool modding touches!  >:D >:D Ya gotta love 'em!! >:D >:D
Yes the holes ya'll see in the fenders of some are true holes either from bullets or I.E.D.s!

Any more pictures? :D

Sorry folks! Been really busy with maintenance since all my trucks have been in the past coupla days. More pics to come tomorrow!
It will be a few days but I will post pics of the gunner turret or "Happy seat" as it has been called. You would not beleive the stuff we had to use to build those!!! You can get everything from your local ACE Hardware!!!
I will be posting the pics of an Avalanche that just will not die in the next day or so.

CombatAvalanche:

You need these:

Dillon Aero M134D Gatling Gun, 50 rounds per second, being deployed on vehicles at Lawrence Livermore Labs in Northern California (according to cnn.com).

Ok where can I get them? Wait I thought you folks were starting to get concerned about collateral damage???
Do you think they would send us one to test? He, he >:D

Those are cool but not as cool as the 50 cal's with the joystick and thermal imaging. It's like starwars all over again!!!

Please do not cry when you see these pics as this is one of our work horses that just won't quit!!! This truck has been blown up 4 different times since we got it. This last I.E.D. was by far the worst as it went off at about 10 feet from the front drivers tire. The operator is fine, Thanks to our armor plating!
