Just got my new, 2004 Consumer Reports Annual Auto Edition. In the Large Pickup category the chevy Avalanche is by far #1. In CU's language, it is "Highly Recommended." The only shortcomings it found were gas mileage and poor rear visibility.

Love my Avy!

this must be the first time I agree with CR....hehehe

Gee, I'm not sure why they knocked "Rear Visibility".

It has been my experience that the "Rear" of my AV is Very Visible, especially if you?re in a tini-wennie Rice Burner!

;D

However it is good to know that someone else besides the Folks on this Board have become aware of how great these vehicles are.

Gas milage? I average 20.2, best: 22.6 (Hwy) in a Z71!!!
They must have been in a 2500

Gas Mileage?? 17.1 city/ 21.5 highway!! Visability?? Buy Snakeeyes or sonic sensors ;D or you can get a Waag guard and park by brail. >:D

I love my AV and glad we are recognized as well. Makes all my family and friends believe me now instead of sending me to the therapist.

Well the gas milage is better than anything I have ever owned so no complaints there.

As for visability.....As set of springs fixed that for me.

Also in that article the Avalanche scored #2 in owner satisfaction, second only to the Tyota Tundra. I will definately vote that I am highly satisfied. The AV has easily met and surpassed my requirements.

It is interesting to note in the owner satisfaction survey only three US vehicles were mentioned in 33 places. GM got all three: Corvett #1 in Sports: Hummer #3 in SUV: and Avalanche #2 in pickups.

I hope the General takes notice and continues to support the Avalanche and to think kindly about CAFCNA

As far as I'm concerned, GM should fund CAFCNA with all the benefits they get out of us.....

I'll have to talk to my mother and see if she has read the CR yet. She is a Toyota fan, and looks down on domestic models because she thinks only Toyotas are reliable. When I bought the Av, she tried to talk me out of it. She has been reading CR since the dawn of time. It is going to eat her alive to see the Av rated so well. Yeeeeehaaaaaaw!! ;D

This is not only GREAT NEWS but take the time to read CR's "Annual Auto Issue" for details and the overall AV score as rated "E".

If I am any indication, then GM can thank CAFCNA and this forum for a whole lot of Avalanche purchases.

This forum is what convinced me to buy my AV... I'm picking up my Black Z71 tomorrow! ;D

It is sure nice to be reminded of what we already knew. THe AV is number one and has been since they have been on the market. THis site has done wonders for GM and I think they would agree...
