ONE-OF-A-KIND MODEL CORVETTE TO BE AUCTIONED ON EBAY TO BENEFIT THE MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION .... The Chevrolet Corvette Signature Car, signed by more than 500 celebrities, dignitaries and athletes during the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games, will be auctioned online on eBay Motors by the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses and is the largest wish-granting charity in the world.

During the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay, Dec. 4, 2001 to Feb. 8, 2002, the Corvette Signature Car embarked on a 13,000-mile journey across the nation, stopping in cities along the route just days before the arrival of the Torch itself. Among those to sign the car at celebrations hosted by participating Chevrolet dealerships were actor Martin Sheen, star of "The West Wing"; former basketball great Julius "Dr. J" Irving; actor Adam West, who portrayed Batman on the classic TV series; Olympic Medalists Bob Beamon, Amy Van Dyken, Michael Phelps and Tom Dolan; and famed Olympian and TV spokesperson Suzy "Chapstick" Chaffey.

Auction bidding will begin on the eBay Motors Web site July 29 at approximately 5 p.m. PST and continue through Aug. 8, ending at approximately 5 p.m. PST, with all proceeds benefiting the Foundation.

Would be cool, only problem for me is I tend to drive the vehicle I buy and that is not a vehicle you would want to drive. You would lose some of the ability to increase in value with every scratch ding, bird crap that hit the car. That poor vette is destined to be a garage dust collector for life.:cautious:

OTH at least the money goes to a great organization!

I'll probably not bid on this one, but I do have my name in the raffles sponsored by the National Corvette Museum. They have two going - sure be nice to win a 50th Anniversary 'Vette!
