I was going to post this under the Ram Air Hood thread but then thought it wasn't really the same thing.
There is a guy who is selling a Cowl induction hood on E-bay right now. He had a single scoop version of a 'plain' air intake version but it was not quite the look i wanted. Would prefer a twin scoop version.
This gentlemen has been very good at responding to questions. He has said that his biggest problem at this point is finding someone to do shipping at reasonable cost. Course this is a huge issue for me. I'll keep looking and see if I can arrange some reasonable frieght.

Cowl Induction Hood

If it's an '02-'03 it HAS to be WITH cladding. The WBH hood would be an '03 Silverado hood.

From my notes back and forth with him, he borrowed a guy's 2002 hood to make the mold for the single scoop and the cowl version. He did not sell the single scoop on e-bay for the price he wanted so gave it to his demo person. His biggest issue right now is shipping and he is working on that.
As I said, send him an e-mail through e-bay he is very prompt in his repies

OK, OK ;)
I started talking with him right about the time that happened :C: So I bugged the livin bejeezus out of him about what the hood would fit on. He seems quite firm, but it never hurts to have a second source check, how bout you send him a note?

My father's trucking company might be able to ship these from the U.S. but he wouldn't have his trucks make a dedicated run. If they are in the area, it is possible. But I noticed this person is in PA and most of the runs are to GA, NV, or CA. I will mention this to him though.

I suggest you send him a note letting him know you are interested. He was disappointed that no one when for the last one he built which was a single scoop. Not the look I wanted and I have bigger shipping issues than you guys do

Time for an update on the hood.
I was hoping for more progress but these things take time. I'm just so damn impatient, ?:Flamin:
Here is a link on e-bay to 'my' hood. He asked if it was OK to put it up for viewing. Please keep in mind that this is the mold being preped. I know that this design will not be for everyone, but I think it works for me

Avalanche vented ram fiberglass hood

He mentions in the e-bay listing, but to repeat... The scoops will be functional back to the air box if desired. In addition the vents are functional for pulling hot air out og the engine area. He is putting a water management system in the under side.

In addition to this design he will have a 3" cowl, and the version you will see with this link without the vents, just smooth in the center.
I beleive that I am going to have him paint it locally so as to test the entire process. It will be at least two-three weeks before I will have the hood. Will post any pictures I get of this or other hoods that he is offering.

Post any questions here or send me a message and I'll either have or get you an answer.

this guy seems pretty efficient on manufacturing his hood designs. ?so far, from what i've seen, he's developed the following cowls for our hood:
-camaro SS (i was very interested in this one!)
-2 1/2" cowl
-ram air
-and now this awesome design.

...if these hoods turn out to be bolt-ons (painted option would be a plus) and the whole shipping deal gets hammered down, this guy would be an invaluable asset to our community.

i too spoke with him and he is very efficient in answering emails and such. ?no hassle, perfect almost, except for the price of course. ?but it opted out (chickened out really) until i can justify the $500 to spend without paint.

if all goes well please let us know!!!

p.s. this guy should just have a set price and partner with our community, he'd make a fortune...just a thought :0:

vortek,

Just to be sure I am reading you correctly... is this guy going to be making you the hood or is he just sending you the design?

contact info PLEASE, e-mail address and phone #.

I'm not a member of Ebay, and really do not want to register.

Is someone going to help me out here.

no sorry woody, i opted out entirely. i ran into the ebay post for a design he did with the camaross cowl on our hood, which sold before i got to it. sooo, i emailed the guy, and he was really cool. i told him that i missed the bid entirely and he opted to make another hood, no questions asked. i was on the verge of ordering, but the cost of shipping alone scared me away.

i am still interested, but...$$$ is a huge factor especially when i stil had to have still gotten it painted.

Hi, I'm a little confused maybe. Are you saying that he is expesive compared to other options, or that it is just a lot of money (which it is)? I'm asking becasue i found his prices to be lower than anything else I could find.

sorry sparky,

what i wrote didnt come out the way i thought it would. what i meant was that it was alot of money for me. his prices faired quite well to comparisons in the aftermarket hood industry... but i, myself, just i dont have the $$$ for that type of upgrade at the moment, although i luv his work! (y)

sorry again for the confusion there, spark ma' lad.... :cautious:

gene,

his email address is:

edscustomglass@yahoo.com

and name is Ed Schwartz, sorry that's all i know... :)

Gene, what Votec posted is correct. that said, what i am trying to do with him and the club is organize questions and post answers here. It may be that i know the answer to what you may want to ask him, or other people might have the same question. It would be good if people could post their questions here. I will make sure they get answered. That said, it's a free country (both of them!!) so do as you see fit.

Well I did finally get a # for Ed, interesting guy.
We spoke to great lenght and I have commissioned him to built me a unit

Should be done by the time my truck arrives ;D ;D

That's great on the hood. Who is going to get theirs first??

Picked the truck up this afternoon with whipple and performance tuner.
