"Cruise from the North"

I got a pair of walkies. Also, so whats the concensus on the blue top? Swing past and hope they are open, or say screw it and stop somewhere else.

Look up Quaker Steak and Lube in Portage, IN. Only 8 miles East of I-65. Good food and they have old cars hanging from the ceiling.

Me to and I AGREE!

I'm good either way. As you can tell, I'm not too picky, and I hate it when somebody gives me an answer like I just did. We can do a drive by, if the Blue Top isn't open yet, just continue to Quaker Steak and Lube.

You can't go wrong with either place, I have been to GTG's at both. See you guys in a week!

Orange barrel alert!  All I can say is from Lafayette south to Indy is pretty clear till you get to 865 , backed up at times.  465 interchange on southside of Indy is a cluster..... rebuilding the on and off ramps., they have been doing major reconstruction from mm48 to 29 south of Seymour, you can get off at 50A, go quarter mile east, US 31 south and bypass this, if you want.

That's was a mouthful, now I need to study the map!

Im glad someone is studying the map. I havnt had much time to do so. and i wasnt sure i wanted to be the leader, lol

You have to be the leader, once I get past the 49th parallel I follow the GPS. >:D

Alright, leaving from my house, i get 7 hours and 420 miles. That includes time zone change. so 6 hours in the truck for me. From where we meet in milwaukee, 5.5 hours in the truck, 393 miles. That includes a stop at the bluetop.

If my math is correct, and we dont run into much traffic, we should be at the oasis around 11:15 to 11:45, depending on when we leave the milwaukee park and ride. From the park and ride, about a half hour to get to blue top. Then about 4.5 hours to madison. If blue top is closed, just about 20 min to get to portage for quaker steak.

I have to work this weekend, so I'll have time for studying. I know that doesn't sound right but oh well.

well im pretty sure its all firgured out. I know where and when to get off, so we should be ok. we will have to discuss speed tho when we meet up. I dont know at what speed people are comfortable going.

I'm okay with speed, it's the passenger and my wallet.  :mo:
Speed limit + a tad is good with me.
If I remember from last fall, Didit suggests no speeding south of Indy.

Depending on the time of day you come thru Indy, I would not worry much about northside construction, or the southside of Indy reconstruction, it usually moves a long pretty good, be sure to watch the construction zone speed signs.  The southern portion south of Seymour they are making great progress with the repavement and bridge replacements, again the time of day makes a diff.  If during rush hour yeah I'd definately find an alternate route. US 31.
Two miles above in a construction zone they'll get ya in a heartbeat, and fines are doubled.  4-6 above in the regular zone, your pretty good unless the trooper has a hardon for Canadians, hehe.  I assume you will be getting off of 65 before you get into the so called "no fly zone"    There 57 will get ya a ticket, but that is not untill the 10 milemarker south to the river!  Hope this helps

I'm a little less conservative than Didit when it comes to speed, and the amounts of extra slack he mentioned may be about right for when he's driving his semi, but I've never gotten a ticket for less than 10 mph over the limit, construction zone or not - and that's driving an aggressive looking yellow AV or a red convertible corvette, and living in southern Indiana for 30 years.

I usually set my cruise control to 8 or 9 over the limit, and even there I'm usually getting passed by everyone but the semis in construction zones and sometimes even the semis.  Only exception to this is when I'm on a military base, then I set the cruise to about 4 over the limit.

Well thru wisconsin we will average 70, and once we hit illionois speed can be anywhere from 70 to 100. And the limit is 55 thru chitown, lol. But thats just keeping up with traffic.

That be true enoiam, and I used to splurge as well untill the damn government changed the rules, remember we had this discussion once before, lol.  You get a ticket, your rates go up and life goes on,  I get a ticket and I might be looking for another job, at my age I just don't want to!    BTW  the 25th of last month I got my 30 year anniversary pin, woohooo
