Darn Panic Button!

Just wondering, I don't know about the 02-03 but on the 04 I keep hitting the darn panic button! I 'm reaching for my keys and I hit it. At least 2 times a week now. I bend over and the fold plus keys in my pocket sets off the panic.

Any way to disable this automatically? Without Ripping out the button?

my advise, don't keep the keys in the pocket when laying on the couch watching tv.... you move... the alarm goes off... :E:

LOL...Happens to me at least once a week when I'm retrieving the keys from my pocket. I was thinking maybe I need to lose some weight, or buy bigger pants.

Hoho, while that may be true for me (And I'm not saying that it is!), how do I prevent my truck from going off.

It never happened to my Isuzu or Hondas, just this key.

Open the remote and put a piece of electrical tape between the button and the curcuit board so that it won't make contact anymore.

Boy! I thought it was just clumsy me. I hate when it goes off by pressing the button by mistake. Seems like it happens at the most inopertune times. I wish there was a way to disable it too, or at least have an option to just flash the lights, and not the horn. I'm sure some of you electronic brains can figure it out. How about some help.

I did what Stinky mentioned above the first day I bought the truck. The method works (doesn't) just fine without issue.

I solved this problem by pulling the rubber part out , cutting a section out of the button and glueing the button back on to the pad with contact cement. This makes the button shorter so that it doesn't stick up out of the case. I haven't had any false panics since.
I just glued the top of the button back on because I like the horn icon but you could just sand it down if you don't care about the icon.
This way I can still use the panic button but I have to be trying.

The one on the left is the altered one.
