has anybody noticed the dash warping where the defroster vents are? my '03 warps about an inch when the defroster is on. it will go down when the truck is cold. the dealer said the whole dash has to be removed and they will have the truck for at least 2 weeks. just curious if anybody else has this problem or if i am the only one who noticed.

I believe that's a new one

Is it bubbling?

You need to talk to Skidd about dash changeout ;D ;)

Being an ASM at a local Chevy dealership, this is the first one I've heard about. South Florida summer weather can be brutal on those dashes but, C/K trucks, Tahoes, Burbans, and Av's hold up very well. Now the Cavaliers, and old Berettas/Corsicas thats another story. 2 weeks? whats with that??. Here we order the part (takes bout a week), when part comes in we paint it (if apply) then call back customer to schedule the install. Install should take no more then 5 hours. Have it back at the end of day......... dangerranger

I read about this when the '02's first came out. The problem was when they installed the dash they did not get all of the holding clips locked in. Why in the world it would take two weeks to fix is beond me.

i'm kind of afraid to get it fixed because the dealer told me it will have squeaks/rattles and electrical problems. one of my bosses at work had the same thing on an s10 blazer and got rid of the truck soon after.

That dealerships sounds like they do not want to work for a living. Get to another dealership fast.

I believe that GM needs to get rid of the bad dealerships that spew this bad goodwill towards customers. Like the old saying goes: A few bad apples can ruin the whole bunch.

Wow, I just noticed this on my '03 on Thursday. Right up in the middle where the headlight sensor is. It was all bowed up. Haven't taken it in yet.

Mine does the same thing. I only notice it when it is cold out. After the dash warms up a bit it settles down. I brought it in to the dealer and they said that they couldn't do anything about it...just like all of my other problems.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP

This is the first and last GM vehicle I ever purchase.

Yea i have an 2004 Z 71 and where the sensor is its comming up too. I havent said anything to the dealer i dunno if im going to cause i dont want to cause problems later.

I'm sorry I read this thread. Now I notice mine is doing the same. I can see the foam insulation around the sensor. Damn it :9:. I guess I'll ask the dealer about it this week when I have the Airbag sensor replaced. I'll let all know what comes of it. The dealer claims to have a rating in the top ten in the nation for service. I'll see what they have to say.

Funny, in all my reading I had never seen this thread so did not know others were having the same trouble. In my case the one of the cross pieces in the defrost vent has snapped by the sensor light.
I don't think I'm going to do anything about it as it really isn't hurting anything, or am I missing something??

It is not hurting anything to leave it as is. I have two problems with this though (IMO). First, is this going to get worse as time goes on, then after warranty completly cracks up and second you would hope that a $40K vehicle would not have this problem. I did not purchase something as expensive as this only to have a warped or cracked dash. :8:

I haven't noticed this on any of the three I've had but I live in warm climate. I would think there would be some kind of bullitin on this subject if it were widespread since this is essentially the same dash that's been in the Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Avalanche, Escalade, Escalade EXT, and Escalade ESV since 1999. (trucks, not suv's they came in 2000) :B:
