I installed my DashSkin on my 2013
Avalanche...very pleased with the
Results so far... easy job
Only thing to watch out fo is making sure to be very careful when initiatilly
Putting it in place at the A pillars.
Scratched mine up abut...
Better with 2 people to put in place.
Would post pics but don’t know how ?

Looks good. Previous owner installed one in my 08....it rattles on Michigan's bumpy roads. No Bueno. I'll likely try an adhesive backed foam pad under the windshield facing seam.

Where did you get your dash pad, I've been researching them and reading reviews and can't make up my mind on which one to get. I would rather get one that someone has purchased and installed on here, we trust our Avy family on here and I don't trust the reviews on the sites. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Got it straight from DashSkin...
Arrived in4 days... no damage
I’m very happy with this!

CapnBob I have only had a Avalanche for 3 weeks but the dash is on the list of things I will get done in 2020. I've seen pictures online of the DashSkin but never in person. Are you happy with the look and is it really noticeable. I was going to bite the bullet and get a whole new gm dash but if this fix is hardly noticeable I might go that route.

Had a friend at the body shop stick it in while the painted my plastic on the rear of the truck. He said it was basically clean the dash, wipe it with a prep to get any grease or dirt off, apply the adhesive, and carefully put in place(need 2 people to apply it in the right spot the first time), and then weighted it down with gallon plastic bags of sand to help the glue set. I see a little excess glue in one spot around the airbag cutout. I think the black rubber sealant used around windshields might have been tackier and less obvious if you smear it than the adhesive that came with it. I am very pleased. Also got mine from dashskins. Was going to bite the bullet on the new dash but this for a fraction and looks good. Don't spare the glue and weigh it down.

I am very pleased with my DashSkin...perfect match with
Color and texture...no rattling
You really only notice the
Change is the bottom edge
Below the vents.
Great fix for $175

My dashskin was pretty decent. My only complaint was the direction showed multiple beads spots which I followed. Even though I left it overnight with lots of weight during during, I now get rattles on bumpy roads. Definitely do a continuous bead along side closest the windshield.

Thankss guys for the feedback. I will consider this as an option. Heck I can use the money saved on wheels and tires. :)

Definitely don't spare the glue. My instructions IIRC showed for the windshield side to put some bead sections, but I'd highly recommend running one full continuous bead. I did it the way the showed and made sure to fully weight the back for 24 hours. A couple years later with heat cycling it's lifted in some spots, and now I occasionally get some rattling noise.

My cracks were on the instrument side. Their instructions show one version that only covers that half (doesn't go all the way to the windshield). I didn't see that variant when I bought mine, but knowing what I know now, I would have installed that one.

Mine has started rattling too
I’m thinking of trying to put some
Screws through to catch the old dash... don’t know if that would work but rattle drives me nuts!
Any ideas on stopping the rattle
Would be appreciated

Having an 02 that basically had no dash when I bought it, it was one of the first things I did to it.
I checked out dash skins and bought it. Arrived perfectly and makes a world of difference but I've yet to glue it down as there really isn't much to adhere it to.
It being held in place by folded square rubber pads that keep most of the rattle noise to a minimum but the sides are what's making most of it.
I'd agree with the padding underneath it to quite it down and also using a full bead at the windshield seam as those are sure to help.
For the heat cycling, my suggestion would be to use butyl sealant as that stuff is impervious to weathering and what I intend to try when I figure out what material to fabricate my (under) dash skin from.

looking at getting one as my dash is cracked on both sides. Was looking on ebay at some.. Are there any that stand out as far as quality?

I have an 04 avy. For those that don’t want to skin their dash, I bought a good dash out of a parts truck for $50. Used a pressure washer to blast all the paint off, wiped it down with alcohol, and sprayed with SEM flex coat available at O’Reilly’s. Total investment was $90 for a brand new looking dash. Just adding it for those looking for options.

I think the A pillar us made of polypropylene which allows you to use heat to remove the scratched and gouges.
This guy Rick has been in the business of repair/restoration for years and has this video which shows how to repair using a heat gun, a plastic welder and a graining pad.
Be sure to check the type of plastic first.
