Hi guys(and gals), Looking to order a 2500 avalanche, but I want to make sure I get the current incentives. From what I understand, once I get the VIN number, I can make the deal and get the incentives at that time - not when the truck actually arrives. Here lies the problem - most incentives end Feb 28. So, I want to make sure I get than VIN number before then. What are my chances - what have your experiences been? By the way - this could cost me $5,003. I am getting GMS price, less $3000 GMS Discount, less $2003 GM Card Discount.

Thanks for the help.

When I ordered mine, the salesman had the date it would be finished fax'ed back to him within 5 days. I don't know if that included the VIN, but you might check with your salesperson.

Jim...(19 days to delivery, but who's counting >:D

Rubin .... you might what to check into this a little further .... I think $3000 off for GMS from MSRP is a bit low ... now it could be because it is a 2500 compared to the 1500 but I think you should be getting almost double that for the 2500 ..... when I got my 2003 1500 z-71 4x4 on 12/23/2002 I had just over $11,500 off the vehicle's MSRP .....

$3000 GM rebate
$500 GM card rebate
$250 Employee Discount
$420 GM card Earnings ....
$3500 Down
$4000+ for GMS .....

Never heard the deal of getting the VIN number and being able to make the deal then on the truck, before it arrives ... I've always had to wait for it to show up first .... got screwed on this very fact a few years ago when I tried to get an Impala SS and the Delivery drivers went on strike ..... showed up a month late and the incentives where no longer in place .... payment went up $125 a month!!! ... I walked out the door without the car! ....

could be something new that dealer are now trying to do ... I'm not saying they won't do your deal if you get the VIN but I would be surprised if they did .... think about it .... that means you are purchasing the truck without even seeing it ... what if the truck has a scratch on it when it comes in or worse it gets wrecked in transport (not likely to happen, but it could) .... you bought the truck ... you are tied to that VIN .... then what? .... plus would they hold the paper work from going to the bank?

Just some things to think about .....

just some things to ponder .....

The order for my 2500 was was placed on January 7th(right after the holiday shut down). ?The vehicle was built on January 27. ?The invoice was generated on January 28. ?The dealer will "sell" me the vehicle this week (to take advantage of the 1/31 expiring rebates, and $2003 GM card bump up). ?I do not expect actual delivery of the vehicle until mid February.

I have never bought a vehicle sight unseen. Unlike a computer from Dell, you cannot return it if you don't like or if it is defective. That is a chance I will take since it means saving over $1000.

It took three weeks from order to build but this was probably due to the fact that GM shuts down for a week and there was a backlog. ?I have seen order to build in about 14 days. ?

Dealers place orders once a week. ?My dealer enter orders on Tuesday. ?If you missed the current week's order cycle, add a week to your build date.

The dealer can invoice you and qualify you for rebates before the vehicle is actually delivered as long as they have been invoiced and a VIN number has been issued. ?In my case, the invoice was produced 1 day after the build date.

Given the existing track record, there is a chance that the rebates may be extended but nobody knows for sure. ?GM is cutting back on production so that may impact future rebates.

You mentioned that you wanted to use the $2003 rebate. ?That expires 1/31 so you will be out of luck on a new order. ? The $2003 is a bump up which added to your existing GM earnings. ?If you had $10, that would be a nice bonus but if you had $2000, it does not amount to much. ?Last month, GM randomly issued $500 coupons to GM Card holders and I strongly suspect that they will do something like that again next month. ?The only problem is that nobody knows how much and who will get it.

My 2003 2500 is MSRP at $40,255 with an invoice of $35,673. ?The dealer wants a couple hundred over that so I am looking at $4382 under MSRP before any rebates, etc...

The dealer is offering the same 200 over invoice no matter which model 1500 or 2500.

Thanks guys for the input - a little clarification, here is what I am looking at (roughly):
$41k MSRP
$36-$37k GMS Price
less $2500 rebate (at one time this was $3000 on the GMsupplier website this month - I have the print out
less $2003 GM Card - probably out of luck here, but I already have $1000 in earnings that I can use.

Going to order 2500 Forest Green Yeah!!

The GMS price is about 4-5k below MSRP and will put you pretty close to invoice.

The $2500 GM supplier rebate is nice. I guess that is another bonus for employees of GM suppliers and not the general public.

The balance of your GM points should help. Don't forget to charge your deposit on the GM card. That is good for a few extra bucks. $100 = $5, $500 = $25.

The existing $2000 rebate for the general public is good till 2/28 and should be stackable to everything else you have.

I know I am beating this one to death.... If you are existing GMAC finance customer (loan or lease), there is another $750 owner loyalty rebate good till 2/28 - ask for code LLC (it is not an advertised item).

And finally, if you have children or relatives with children, register at upromise.com and you can give them $150 when you purchase or lease a GM vehicle.

BTW my 2500 is on its way. I kinda wish I added the snowplow option. It cost about $165 and includes a heavy duty alternator and I suspect a bunch of other upgrades to the suspension, transmission cooler, etc. I can't say if the ride would be any harsher but if you plan to run a bunch of electrical items, add front fog/driving lamps, put a front winch, etc... that upgrade is a real bargain. Only works when you are ordering a 2500...

Sorry - I had to read that last post a couple of times - you are teling me that the $2500-3000 supplier rebate is above the $2500 public discount. ' As in - I get both? Seems to good to be true.

I do not know if the GM supplier rebate is the same as the one for the general public.

The "general public" rebate was $3000 last month, it is $2500 till 1/31 and drops to $2000 till 2/28.

There are other non public rebates that are available from time to time. I do not know the details of the GM supplier rebate. If it is addition to the one offered to the general public, consider yourself lucky. (Check the expiration dates first).
