Hello gang. Just wanted to say "HI". I was searching for Avalanche parts today & found this website. It is cool & has a lot of useful information. Now I'll tell you what parts I was trying to find for my Avalanche. Well I don't exactly have one. I am thinking of ordering a 2003 Silverado 1500HD. I was also thinking of adding an AV (as you all call it) roof rack to add a canoe or bike attachment. Then I saw the posts about lifting the AV. Now that is what it was supposed to look like. The prototype GM made looked like that. And I was dead set on buying one. But then I saw the actual production vehicle & was not that impressed. So now I am not sure what to do.

I do have a question for Dave who works or owns an off road shop in Texas. What kind of a price is the Fab-Tec 6" lift kit for a 2003 Silverado 1500HD 4X4? And how hard is it to install? I have installed a 95 LT1 motor & T56 6speed into an 86 Monte SS. Do you think the lift kit is more dificult than that?

I like both the lifted version of the Avalanche & the Silverado. I am sort of leaning towards the Silverado because it is a little more truck with more gadgets for less $$.

Thanks,
Scot

PS sorry for length.

Scot - you might try to sned a message directly to Dave - I am not sure which member you are talking about.

As I recall, the guys who have lifted the AV, have all had a shop do the lift. I don't think this is a trival job.

I think you may be thinking of "Lifted Z-66".....He has an off-road shop in Austin I think.
