UPDATE: Meet at 11:30 am at the Burger King located at I-35/80 and University Avenue (Exit 124 if my map is still right) on the west side of Des Moines. The Burger King is located on the west side of the Interstate and is part of a gas/convenience shop in case any long distance travelers need to refuel. We'll meet up, have lunch, then it's on to.....
Karting!
Around 12:30 pm or so we'll head over to the Sprockets Corporate Karting Center for some indoor karting, hanging out, parking lot mods, whatever. ?Sprockets opens up at 12:00 noon. ?Karting prices: ?$19/8 min, $22/10 min, $29/20 min (these are not your average amusement park karts! Drivers must be at least 12 years old). ?Karting is available first-come, first served.
Cruise!
Around 2 pm, we'll head out for our cruise destination of Winterset, IA. ?In this area are numerous covered bridges made famous in the book and movie, "The Bridges of Madison County". ?We'll visit several of the bridges, and if interest and time permits, visit the Winterset boyhood home of a fellow named Marion Morrison (aka John Wayne). ?We may also include a short side trip to Pammel State Park, the site of the only vehicular tunnel in the State of Iowa. ?After this we will head back to Des Moines for dinner. ?Total driving distance during the cruise estimated at 75 miles.

We will meet back at the Iowa Machine Shed restaurant located at 11151 Hickman Road, right near the Kart track, for dinner. ?The Machine Shed serves meals family-style, with entrees priced $9-20. ?Discuss the day's activities, possible future meets, the National meet, etc. before breaking up and heading out. ?Estimated time back at the Machine Shed to be in the 5-6 pm range, depending on how the cruise goes. ?Break-up for the evening at ??
