Desperately Seeking AV Bliss!!

Now I'm about to go nuts.... :8:

The damned credit union couldn't possibly get around to the loan today, and now the bank is closed for the remainder of the freakin weeekend.... They've got loan apps piling they're roof and out of 5 people that do this thing on weekends only 1 freaking 1 of them shows up to work.... :8:

So now monday it "maybe" will be.....

I hear you...I've been through this before myself with the same type of situation....waiting on other people in order to get your work done stinks big time...not to mention the excitement that goes with getting in the Av....hopefully Monday it is dude.... :B:

Hey I don't know were you are from but today I was in Boise, ID and there is a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Z71 in Indigo Blue with the sports leather, onstar, hard cover loaded but no sunroof they are asking $27,995.00 and it only has 11,000miles on it. there is a picture of it on the website so Buell Davidson said. For more info talk to Buell Davidson 208-631-9028

Hang in there KnightHawk....the AV is worth the wait ... and the aggravation. Have you checked into other financing alternatives? I've used People First.com a couple of times in the past. I got approval within 15 minutes of applying and spent the extra $15.00 to get the check overnight. Their rates were very competitive when I used them, except when I bought my AV at 0%! Good luck!

This just isn't going like I want it too..... :C:

Credit Union still is apparently extremely busy and dragging they're feet getting me approved although they tell it will be before 5PM.... fine...

But now I can't get ahold of the guy selling the truck at all.... What am I to do???? :C:

Anyway just wanted to drop a few lines let you guys know where I'm at... my BIG problem at the moment is just getting ahold of this guy been calling for 2 days and no response from him.

Hang in there Knighthawk....persistence does pay off...don't get discourged..even though it is hard not to...good luck and keep us posted... :) :B:

Hey Knighthawk, what's happened? ?I've been watching this story like "days of our lives", I figured that you would have gotten your finance through by now and something has happened either one way or the other.

I guess if he's not posting, then he must be out driving with an ear to ear grin. ?(y)

Sadly the story gets worse I'm afraid. I haven't been out driving... just pulling my hair out. :C:

Still have not been able to get ahold of the guy with the truck. At this point I'm going to have to consider his truck a no go.

However I did come across a white one customized a bit. It looks really nice... but it just doesn't look like the kind of beast one should take off road... it is 4x4 but I dunno. It also has the 8100 engine in it.... not that gas mileage is that big of a deal but with an engine like that..

And today it got real bad... credit union turned me down. Looking over my credit report it looks as though I've got a bit of fraud going on with my credit... I have nearly 4 dozen credit inquiries in just 90 days... out of that dozen only 5 did I ever approve... So I got hammered for that and am now going to have to spend much time just resolving that. However the credit union did offer me $20,000 instead.... a far cry from where I need to be.

So anyway now I'm stuck trying to resolve my credit.'

On the good news side talking with several dealers in my area I have a gotten a few damn good prices on a 2003 AV I'm gonna dig a little more but if I can ever get this credit thing out of the way I may be able to snatch up a new 03 AV. I'm probably just another 1000 shy on the pricing side from it. I've seen the price I need for this on the east coast, but can't find anything near that here on the west coast. I'm almost tempted to take an east coast trip.

KnightHawk,

I've been hoping to hear good news regarding your quest. Wishing you good luck.

However, I have heard that internet mortgage sites such as lendingtree.com can be a bad thing. They basically offer your business to anyone willing to check you out and make an offer.

The bad thing is too many checks into your credit history can make you look like a bad risk. I don't know if this is what happened to you.

Disclaimer: I am not a lending expert, just offering a semi-informed opinion of mine. Something to consider.

Your right currently that is the way it looks.... although in reality I shouldn't have that many checks on my credit. It's just the fact that I do have all these apparent checks on my credit.

Seems to be the big reason I got turned down in this case. I was quite surprised I know where I'm at financially and I figured getting this loan should of been easy... but with all these checks on my credit it does look like a big risk. Otherwise I have beautiful credit.

Well tonight I'm going to give peoplefirst.com a try and see where I can get with them. From the couple of talks I had with them it seems as though not only will the checks they do not appear on my credit file, unless of course I go ahead with the loan. The credit union checks didn't show up either so at least I'm not going in deeper on that end.

Anyone have any experience with peoplefirst.com?

Anyone see that black z71 full loaded on ebay? That is my ideal truck right there... hopefully can get financing out of the way soon so I can start bidding on it. I'd have no problem driving to TX from CA for a good deal on this truck.

Would also get that "first trip" out of the way too :)

Just wanted to update the post... yes it does appear all these credit checks are illegal I've been doin some reading :)

Another layman's opinion: I believe it is illegal for anyone to check your credit without your authorization. I've read that this is why some car dealers ask for a copy of your driver's license before taking a test drive. They use the info to run a credit check while you are testing their vehicle.

Good luck on the AV purchase.

First reply/post, Just like sjprowler I'am also a SBC employee and got to use the GMbuyer power. My av is a: 02' Z71 sunset orange w/o ONSTAR, Leather, and DVD. With discount and $3k down I was still in upside down $2k on my last car loan. Payments are: $543.05. I understand Knighthawks problems w/his c.union but, @ 5yrs 0% every dime you put into your loan is yours. Just keep chipping away at the dealers one of them will eventually give you a good price. (A friend of mine haggled for 5 1/2 months with 3 dealers in his area before buying his Z66.) Good Luck!

Ditch,

Welcome to the club!!

KnightHawk, don't give up bud, we're all on your side!!

I think something fishy is going on with my credit too, just got a notice that I had been turned down for too many inquiries... for something that I never applied for.

In the midst of having it investigated now.

SJP

This could be complicated...credit is always a sticky issue....not to mention all the outside sources not really helping but hurting.....just keep at it...there will be a way you can plant yourself in the AV of your dreams...don't get discourged.....it will be yours someday.....good luck....we're all pulling for you.... :B:

Well the saga continues and I have an update to my story...

Well this week I'm in search of a new 2003 Black Z71 with drive conv. personal security, full features leather seats.... the works...

Been a tough finding one of these suckers... easy to find one with the options not easy finding it in black... But I've found one, got a good price on it $36,500 and am in the financing stage... so far all looks good and the credit guy at the dealer thinks he can slide this one in.. woohoo!!!!

So if all goes well I should be a proud AV Z71 owner by wed.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. ;D

I also happened to take my first drive in an AV tonight believe it or not... I've been all over this truck like 3 or 4 times now, but never drove it tonight.... It only confirmed what I already knew a month ago.... ?I REALLY WANT THIS TRUCK. ?

Man these AV's drive really nice, I was surprised how smooth and easy to drive it is. The amount of brake pedal used is a little unnerving.... but I figure 6000 pound vehicle I guess it should be maybe..... So I really love the truck, but the brakes irk me a little.... not that I care at this point lol. It seemed to have plenty of get up and go, and would have even more so if the transmission let it... To me anyway it seemed the tranny was definately geared for truckin... as opposed to how my mustang feels geared hehe..... Yeah I know an AV is NO mustang...

But definately the ride of the truck stood out for me, just really smooth even over rough rodes it rides those out really smooth too.... (but again I drive a mustang daily so a mountain bike with a shock would probably be smoother than my stang)

Anyway to rap it up I felt good in the truck, being a big guy 6'1 260 pounds I felt the drives seat plentty spacious. I only wished I had more time to get aquainted with it. I was just starting to program the trip computer when we pulled back in the lot.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya Knighthawk...you'll be surprised what those folks at the dealers can do....they will try desperatly to get you in one.....hopefully if will become an Av reality... :D :B:

Well we're one step closer now....

The loan was approved... that is the good news... with a 300 deposit I could ensure delivery of the vehicle and drive home just the one I want tomorrow....

now for the bad news...

Apparently creditors get nervous when you go from buying 13 - 15k vehicles to a 40k vehicle.... hehe... so the interest rate I got sucks, sucks real bad.. and the payment is 162 more than I had planned on. So at this point I'm either 11,000 or $162 per month a way from my dream, or 5 interest points. Seems so minor yet so much, I'm trying to talk the wife into it now. :cautious:

Unless your credit has some dings on it, there is no reason that you can't get a better rate. Try some of the on-line vendors or if you have a Costco/Sams Club membership, talk to them. They usually offer a half-point to 1 point less than the banks. The excuse of going from 14K to 40K doesn't make sense. Tell them your walking, they'll come around.

KB

If that doensn't work...keep at it with the wife...even if you have to make some promises that are almost impossible to keep... ;D :B:

Yes more news again as the hunt goes on....

Out of curiosity I decided to give my local dealer a shot. Knowing at least I could actually buy this thing if I want now. I figured at the worst I'd waste an hour of time or save some money.

Well the experience wasn't awesome. They have no "fleet manager" at least not one on duty, in fact I'm pretty sure they don't have a real one, they seemed to roll they're eyes at the suggestion anyhow....

So they I told them exactly what I wanted where they could find it in california, and the exact numbers they had to beat.

The first trip they made they we're tripping quoting 800 - 1000 payments... ROFLMAO After having a good chuckle I then repeated the quote I got from another dealer and told them to beat it, or I go home.

So they try again this time 850.00 a month. I laughed again....

third trip back 780.00 well gee boys again you have to beat the other dealer I told them....

4th trip back now we are 10 dollars under, but only after I told the guy I'd buy tonight.... Although I'd told him I'd only buy at 650 tonight, he comes back with the 10 dollars per month under and claims we're doin it tonight.. I laughed and left, they did try and talk me out of leaving of course... but offered nothing further other than 1.50 percent interest lower, I haven't done the math yet, and they didn't tell me but I think they must of jacked the price up too. somehow 1.50 seems to me it would get me farther than 10 bucks... anyway...

So yes the experience gets more interesting, I have learned much along the journey so far, and the truck is now just a hair within my grasps.

So tomorrow I will mention this new price the first dealer I got the orignal price from and see if they will beat that, also I'm going to meet with an entirely new dealer... who seems really hungry for a sale, and thinks the current interest rates I've gotten are total crap. He could be the one full of crap and it could be a waste of time, but ya never know. At this point hte prices I've been quoted I'm happy with 36,500... dealer list is about 35,000 figure they're 3% and maybe just a hair extra and fine 36,500 from a 40000 msrp. Now it's just the pissy interest rates I'm getting. I know my credit very well now, and I know I'm definately not in the "excellent" credit range but not too far from it either. I ought to be able to get better credit than my buddy who has almost zero credit history and a repo.

This is getting better than Survivor Thailand...how exciting is this....keep up the persistence....you make the price and set it down....let them come and see you.. :B:

I just wanted to let you know a $150.00 ticket on southwest airlines to Seattle will save you about $4500 on a z 71 loaded AV. The local dealers up here are running '03 loadeds after rebates around $29,900. Plus the 3.9 for 60 months. I got mine at the end of Sept for 29,900 loaded w/snrf and 0.0% for 60 months for $520 a month. Hop online and look at the Seattle times on Friday morning. Or look on the web for Glenn Grant Chevrolet or Huling brothers. Ya they are lost leaders but the Av's up here aren't as popular as trucks yet and they are blowing out loaded units... Goodluck
