I have searched this board and I have found some mention of different overhead consoles. I needed to find a fill plate for my light switches. When I had my AV at the dealer I went to an AV he had on the lot and I measured the opening. Something seemed wrong it just did not look like the same overhead console. When I got my AV back from the service department I drove over to the other AV on the lot. Sure enough, Different sized consoles.

AV without the sunroof has a larger overhead storage area.
AV with the sunroof has a small overhead storage area.
AV with the snowplow prep has a total different one.

Has anyone else noticed this? Why 3 different overhead consoles.

Do you have the snow plow prep? If so can you post a picture?

Well with 1 & 2 the sunroof comes into play right huh?

MrBill, there has been much discussion on this site concerning the different OHCs of AV with sunroofs and without. This was brought to my attention as Jason P. and others were trying to decide where to put the Trip Computer from the Cadillac Escalade. However, I have not noticed anyone mention the difference in the OHCs for AVs with the Snow Plow Prep package. How are they different? Size only? Is there a difference in OHCs between Snow Plow Prep Pkgs with the sunroof versus without? I think this package is only available on the 2500 series so would that account for any of the differences? Maybe one of these OHCs would make a more suitable location for the Trip Computer or other MODS. Anyone able to shed some light?

the OHCs on the non-sr equipped avs of course are different in some respects from teh SR avs due to the abbreviated length, and we know for certain (we being the we who struggled with trip computer location) that the sr avs have a smaller, fully-molded cubby. As for the snow plow prep 2500s, there is wiring up there for roof lights, and the plow-prepped Av should also show an aux light switch in the Onstar area. Aside from possible switch gear accomadation, I have no clue why the plow-prepped 2500 would have their own variant of ohc.

Here is everything I can find about OHC part numbers...

AV 1500:
15769392 - w/ Onstar
15757945 - w/o Onstar

AV 2500:
No info

Truck series: (only graphite listed)
15746962 - (RPO-DK7) 99 & 00 (conflict!!)
15769398 - (RPO-DK7) Chevy/GMC 01 &02
15769380 - (RPO-DK7) Sierra C3 & Sierra Denali 01 &02
15769400 - (RPO-DK6)

SUV series: (only pewter listed)
15746962 - (RPO-DK6) (conflict!!)(price suggests RPO-DK7)
15056827 - (RPO-DK7) w/rear AC, w/GDO, w/Onstar
15746956 - (RPO-DK7) w/rear AC, w/GDO, w/o Onstar
15746960 - (RPO-DK7) w/rear AC, w/o GDO
15745551 - (RPO-DK7) w/o rear AC

RPO-DK6 = long style
RPO-DK7 = short style

I'm not sure if the truck and SUV part numbers include switches and lights. The AV didn't specify if there were different colors. And I found a conflicting part number, but the price showed it was the shorter console. Maybe someone else can help confirm.
