Dlgm4- Security Bybass

You also need a Peripheral PLGMD or DEI 555L passkey bypass. We have typically used the DEI, but the new Peripheral part requires no wire cutting and works directly on the databus circuit--NICE!!

kodiakz,
I just got my alarm installed...no one in tucson installs the avantgaurd v so I went with a prestige 996. anyhoo...the question is...when I hit the disarm button on my remote the horn should honk along with the alarm chirps and the perimeter lights should come on. Just like the factory unlock. please let me know if this should happen...because it doesn't right now and I don't want to give up that function. I just want to know, in your vast experience, if this is just an oversight on the installer or you lose this function once you install the aftermarket alrm. Thanks in advance,
GC

The horn can be programmed to honk, I believe, in the programming done on with the steering wheel remotes. However, unless you plan on silencing the alarm's chirps, might sound king of funny chirping and honking at the same time (but hey, you might like that so it's whatever you want. As for the perimeter lights, they should come on when remotely disarmed (keep in mind only at night). Here's an easy way to tell if he did it correctly: arm your alarm, watch the oem orange security light on the dash until it goes out, then reach in and open the door tripping both alarms. Now hit the idsarm on the new remote and see if it disarms both alarms (I guess your truck migh or migh not have factory security--all the ones we've seen have it). Did you have it set to unlock all on the first press, or press once to unlock the driver's, and twice to unlock the rest? Does that unit do remote start? I think it does. Try this (again, if you have oem security) lock the doors with the door switch, get out and wait about a minute or two, then remotely start it. Does the oem security sound? He probably did a good job, but you never know untiil you check!! (y)

Thanks kodiakz,
I have to wait until the sun goes down here in AZ to check...I wish I knew as much as you when it come to this stuff. You are a valuable resource for all of us.

NO prob!! If you get to know as much as I do (which isn't all that much, lol) I would have to hire you--this is what I do for a living. I get the pleasure jacking with all this 'fun' stuff everyday, and oftentimes reporting back to Peripheral or Soundgate or Blitzsafe to tell them what king of problems their products are having, and then try to find a workaround. Just glad I can share some of my hard gleaned experience with others and maybe save you guys some of the headaches I've gone through. :E:
