i plan on running 3 autotek amps: mm3000.1d, mm100.4, mm75.2.  what do i need to do in order to have this running correctly? do i need to upgrade battery and which one? do i need a cap and how many? and do i need to upgrade my alt? i am also looking at kinectik batt too.

How many watts?

Alternator give you power when engine running.
Battery starts engine...

What ohm of speakers?
What is sensitivity of speakers?
What sound pressure levels do you listen to music at?

All the above will indicate the total system power levels to achieve the sound levels you desire.... and then from that can figure out continuous amp draw of amps at this level.. to see what you need for alternator...

and of course have some fudge factor in their for the music level changes...

but anyways...

hook it up... drive around... lights dim? if yes.. look at larger alternator....

Here is good page of tech tips about amps in general
http://www.crownaudio.com/amp_htm/designstools.htm

Look at this one:
http://www.crownaudio.com/apps_htm/designtools/elect-pwr-req.htm

it will figure what amp size you need.... and fro that one can figure what size alternator they need..

I would go larger alternator. I would get the biggest that I could afford just incase you decide to upgrade your system.

You can figure this HERE. `Lots of helpful info there. :)

Ideally, the RMS (Root Mean Square) Audio/AC power would be close to the DC current draw per channel. If you know the efficiency of your amp you can come in closer. Consider wire resistance also.

It's not an easy one to figure for the average load, since the power varies with the content, of course.

With that kind of power, I would increase the alternator size as most members with this setup have done here.

Certainly consider replacing the battery with an AGM battery(ies).

Good luck!

Sounds like it'll be a nice system...what subs, etc. you plan to use?? Skip the caps and contact Kinetic on the batts(they're good about getting back with ya'). I'm guessing 2 Kinetics(one for that 3000.1 alone) and upgrade the alternator would do ya'.

P.S. And some hearing protection for yourself too... >:D Looking forward to pics!!
