Do you really use your cargo rack?

Bisonovich beat me to it. Early on, racks came loose for adealer install. Mine (build date 01/2002) was installed at the factory.

Nope,

I don't use mine at all. Good lord man look at the amount of
cargo space in our trucks! I have used the bed a bit
not a whole lot because I don't have alot I move around.
I can definately understand the kayak rack though..

One of the reasons I got (I justified) the av purchase was the
fact that we are going to be building/renovating a house in
about a year or so. So I want to use the bed space for that.
You know put in large amounts of lumber thru the midgate so
that It would be covered in case of rain or whatever.

On a side note I had a chevy blazer before this that had a roofrack
that was not as cool as the ones on our avs. You can really adjust these a great deal. I took off my cross pieces a couple of weeks ago and the material that they used for construction is really nice.
I think though If I get another AV in the future I will try to opt one
without the rack. I like the clean looks of the ones without it.

Aetatis...

I have the factory rack on mine. One of the first things I did was to add my Yakima rack from my Jeep(traded in on the AV) to the AV. As stated above i used the Lowriders and 58" bars. I have two bike trays with the basket in the middle plus I have the gunwhale barckets as well. It dramatically changed the way the truck looked. It has a more rugged look to it now. Also, I do use it all the time. The bikes go up there mostly and yes it can be a pain. I'm 6'1" and it still can be a chore getting on the running boards to get the bikes off. Was trying to find a way to mount it on the back with out having to remove it everytime I needed to use the bed. But, in the end I wanted it up top for the look. Thne someone else figured out how to do it. :C:

I have used mine a few times for trips. I have a big Cabelas waterproof bag that fits. It worked well. I definetley think the AV looks better w/ the rack.

P.S. Welcome 12Volt (y)

Do I really use my cargo rack? Well...

I used the rack for the first time today. (I kayaked on the Susquehanna river on this warm 75 degree November day.) The "If it doesn't fit in the bed you don't need it" rule mentioned previously didn't apply. The bar set up uses Thule 430 Tracker II Feet, TK1 Tracker Kit, and LB58 Load Bars. The factory bars were not removed, just slid to the center of the rack. I can lock the bars to the Av's rack to prevent theft.
Great picture...
Where can I get a kayak with an Avalanche bolted to the bottom of it like yours?

I had the dealer order one for me as part of the sale. I like the look of it however I don't think I'll use it real soon. Now if someone came out with a light bar the would replace the factory bar that would look even better.

In a word - mountain bikes. Although I could get them in the bed, it is much more convenient to throw them up on the roof (gently). I added a pair of Yakima bike mounts as well. We tend to travel long distances to go biking in the middle of no place (or we did before kids) so it is nice to have the extra space in the bed for food, water etc.

I have the factory sunroof and cargo rack. I think it looks great. It finishes off the top of the truck. Instead of having a long flat roof. It breaks it up. I use mine at least once a week everythime I wash my av. It give me somthing to grab and hold on to when I'm washing and drying the roof :0: :). If i didn't have one installed from the factory I wouldn't get one installed. I would be very hesitant about having somebody drilling holes in my roof for fear of leaks IMHO.

I used mine a couple weeks ago when I got my tree. It was too big (fat) for the bed and I didn't want to take my covers off. :B:
Same here, used mine just this once in over 6 months.

I wanted the rack as I feel it adds to the overall appearance of my AV.
