Does anyone have a PA system in their AV?

I want to put a public address system in my AV, but I don't know what I need. I've heard I need a cb radio and a speaker. Is that it?

Thank you in advance for your responses!

That is one way to do it. There are other ways but that may be the most practical and cost effective. I have not done a set up like that in a long while. But the ones I did do were lots of fun.

Yup Got ONE!!! I'm in the business of training SWAT teams and Spec Ops units so I use it on the range while giving comands... Now I use a unit that comes out of a cop car and it has sirens sounds on it. Seeing how you are probably not cleared to have such things this is what you do...

1. Go to GALLS (www.galls.com I think)
2. Purchase a cheap siren unit w/ PA
3. Purchase a 100 watt horn
4. install the horn on the passenger side of the engine compt. on the fire wall.
5. Run the speaker wire through the firewall
(whole set up should take around 4 hours if done right)
6. Highly suggested... Tear open the siren unit and disconnect the siren tones with a pair of clippers (So that John Q Law doesn't put you in the slammer for impersonation!!!
7. Go out Raise HELL!!!
8. Tell the wife she can use it too at the Mall! (as she will prob. try to kill you for spending the $300.00

Good Luck! >:D >:D

ok or buy a cheap 75 dollar cb with a pa switch and a $14 Pa speaker .... this set up works great... had it in my dodge.... the Av does not have a decent spot for mounting a CB.. so with the AV I didn't bother with the PA setup and went with the cobra all-in-one... works great... but no PA...

Sure if you are into the quite side of your life... the CB option will only give you a realistic 10 watts :p

Sure you save money... But wouldn't you much rather be heard for a MILE! >:D >:D

Why remove the siren circuit; just disable it from the usual access and connect it to the alarm!
One hell of an alarm using a unitrol in yelp mode! (better make sure it times out!) :2:

Sure... YOU CAN DO IT! :D
You might have to install a small amp to you alarm unit to power the 100wat horn. That should send the unwanted thug to the hearing aid store where you can catch up with him and :E:!!!

Good luck & let me know.

I ran a set up just like that on my last AV and i was really not happy with the output of just running it from a cobra cb to a radio shack PA speaker. Yeah it will work but it will be very soft compared to Police models. If you really want to be heard get the cb get atleast a 100watt PA speakers ( this is something that you just dont cheap out on since it will be in harms way of the elements) it will run you any where from 40 to 80 bucks depending on the brand and size maybe more . Install the CB where ya want and run the wire from the cb output for the PA to the Amp to the PA speaker . I placed mine inside the front bumper and it took some abuse so i would take Trident's advise and place it inside the engine compartment . Also instead of running the wire through the fire wall there are 2 drain plugs under the carpeting on the driver and passenger flooring right dead center almost where you can run the wire alittle more easily than the fire wall install. While you are there also run your CB ANT. wire for future install and it will save time , just tie up the wire good with Zip ties and watch out for moving parts. well that was my exp talkin , keep on keeping on man !Here is a pic where i installed it. I just got done tonight with it and it took me about 2 hours to figure it out but if ya know what you are doing and how it should only talk about an hour honestly. L8

I had the speaker in the bumper of my dodge, and I found out not to point it straight down.... when you hit a puddle it fills up with water (the center cone). found a good drain angle, tightened it up and it worked for 4 1/2 years.... (again $15 PA Speaker).

same thing happend with me except mine was filled with mud and beyond repair had to replace it.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
You guys learned where to put it the hard way... I had a similar "thing" I did the hardway. I left my spare tire (off my D90 which weighed in at close to 80 pounds) on the roof rack. One night I had a blow out in the trail, I climbed up grabed it and fell off the rear ladders and the tire came down with me. It hit me in the chest nearly breaking all my ribs, actually only broke one, knocked a front tooth loose, cut my forehead WIDE open! Never put your tire up there!!!! Multiple things are bad about that idea center of grav., personal injuries etc....

Keep it real...
Good Luck

I prefer the "Mr. Microphone" mod....just roll down the street, and say " Hey good lookin, we will back to pick you up later" >:D

Yeah baby!

Just get yourself a megaphone and hang out the window like a ruff neck! ;D

Just remember to pull your head in before you roll up the window!!! :2:
