Door Handles

Just recently bought an '04 Av.  A minor problems I'm having is with the door handles on all four doors.  When I open a door, the handle doesn't return to where it should be.  I have to push it back in.  There has been a time or two, that when I went to get out, I couldn't open the door.  I had to open the window, push the handle in, push the unlock button then I could open the door.  On one of the doors I tried spraying some lubricant into it, but so far that hasn't resolved the issue.  I could see the drivers door developing an issue over time since it gets the most use, but this issue is with all four doors.
Has anyone had an issue like this and if so what was the solution?
I did do a search on the forum, but came up dry.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance. :help:

Sounds like something to do with the lock actuator portion of the BCM control. Did you disconnect battery and go thru a reset? Should be a search on here for the reset procedure. If was just one I would say get in the door and see what is hanging up but with all four sounds like a controller problem. Unless the insides of doors have problems because of flood damage? YECH!

My Av did come from NY, so there is some rust issues, but nothing outrageous that I have found so far.  The door handles feel like they operate smoothly, unlike if they had rust in the mechanism.  Power locks operate as they should.  Handles just don't return to normal position on their own.  Thinking that when I have some spare time this week I will take one of the door panels off and take a look.  Who knows what I may or may not find.

Good luck with that. It would be hard to believe that they would all have problems at the same time with the mechanisms that work the handles. Hope it ain't nasty when you get in there but you gotta look at the guts.

Any resolution to this?  I have the same issue.  The mechanism and locking function works fine, but because the handles don't return far enough, sometimes they miss the unlocking or locking.  Fronts I see have a rubber cap in the jam for lubrication, but my issue is with the back ones.

Thoughts?

I have an '02 that was basically my daily driver until late last winter.  I didn't drive it for some time and when I started again I noticed the "sticking open" door handles.  Some more/further than others, but none so much that locking/latching is a problem.  I just assumed it was a lubrication problem from being out in the weather (we live on a "dusty" farm) and that lubrication to the right spot would help/cure...

Perhaps the vehicle sat for a while before your purchase or is just particularly dirty/dusty in that area.

I've had my 05 Avy for two years now. The doors recently started doing the same thing. It's annoying. First time it happened I didn't realize why I couldn't uldnt get out of my driver door. So I crawled into it passenger door. Then I realized. The handles on my driver and passenger and then the read driver side passenger all tend to do this. I opened up the little button cap on the inner part of my door and soaked it with WD40 but it didn't do a thing... My girlfriend gets stuck all the time and it's getting old quick.

Bueller...? Bueller...? Searched and found this thread with no solution.... All four of my handles fail to return to closed position and can "lock you out" from the inside.... Is the solution no better than making sure you physically return them to the closed position? Never seen this with any vehicle I have ever owned.... above posts do not seem to indicate lubing is going to help... Hate to pirate an old thread but...

Time for new ones maybe?

Pull the door skin and have a look! It'll likely be obvious what is binding, probably the cable. I've replaced two outside door handles and the driver front inner cable, and I haven't even owned the truck 2 years yet...
